First Time Lexis Owner. Questions/Advice
Hello everyone,
As the title says, I'm a first time Lexus owner having just picked up a new 2015 IS350 AWD in Nebula Gray earlier this week. I came from an 07 Infiniti G35x. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Lexus thus far but wanted to ask a few things. Thanks in advance for any answers / advice.
1) Am I safe to assume the LED headlamps do not suffer the same warning as Xenon HID where it is unwise to turn them on then off within a short period of time (e.g. I pull in my garage when coming home... the HID's come on (auto mode) then I turn off car within 30 seconds). The Infiniti manual stated to avoid this.
2) When I stood outside the vehicle (admiring it of course shortly after taking her home) with the engine at idle... I notice it is not exactly as quiet as I would have expected a Lexus to be. It kind of has a knocking sound (hard to describe) and also sounds like a 4 cylinder engine. I had an 07 Camry before the G and that engine was nearly silent when idling. Just wondering if this is normal on the IS. I realize engine sounds and quietness are subjective but just wondering what people think around here.
3) I'm finding myself a little frustrated with playing music of a USB thumb drive. It seems it takes a lot of effort to jump around to different tracks particularly of a different artist. I like having split screen on my NAV display, so when I change tracks, I have to select the audio to be full screen, then choose browse, which then always defaults to the Folder view (I prefer Artist view). So then I must switch tabs to Artist then narrow it down from there. Maybe it will become easier the more I use it, but for now it feels slow and frustrating.
I've also experimented with the voice command to play specific songs, which actually works good, however after the song completes, it plays the next song that is physically located on the thumb drive (I assume), instead of playing the next song within that same album. I guess I can understand this behavior since everyone probably has a different opinion on what they prefer.
Anyway.. I'd like to know how you folks deal with your music. Oh yeah, one more thing.. the Enform App Suite mystifies me a bit... I was trying to get Pandora to work and had some tethering difficulty.. It seems that I have to have Pandora running on my phone?? If so, what benefit does the Enform App give me over just streaming Pandora through Bluetooth?
I do also want to say I absolutely love this vehicle. The comfort of the interior is simply amazing, and the styling of the exterior is bold and exciting. I don't miss my G35 as much as I thought I would (except the exhaust note once in a while), but that too was a pretty great car.
Sorry for the long post... thanks for listening.

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the club!
I have not heard of this before. I know of no limitations with the LED headlights in this regard.
This is the sound of the fuel injectors and is typical of direct injection engines.
I use Pandora through the app, so I am afraid I can't give you much guidance on this method for playing music.
You need the Enform App running on your phone, not the Pandora app. It can be a bit finicky at times. The benefit of using it through the app is that you can control your stations and searches through the head unit, rather than having to touch your phone.
Enjoy your ride!

Congrats on the purchase! You'll love it! Regarding the Auto mode for headlights, I've always left mine on Auto cause it's convenient (don't need to worry about leaving headlights on). Haven't heard any issues with that, except that your battery drains faster??
Re the sound, it's coming from the fuel injectors like someone else said. Even my IS250 does the same when idling.
Since we have the same color = Nebula Gray Pearl, be sure to post a picture of your ride on the Nebula Gray Pearl 3IS owners below:

2 LED - congrats on purchase
Point 3 - its one of only a few things that **** me off in 3IS, yes the menu is lazy, slow mainly when switching tracks and listing through artist...you need to get use to it....
