Trouble with connecting homelink garage door opener
Hey guys
I just got my IS 250 F sport this past weekend and I just tried setting up the home link today but after 2 tries, it still didn't work. I held down the button on the rear view mirror until the red light started blinking and then proceeded to hold down the button on my garage opener while holding the opener close to the rear view mirror but after 30 seconds (both times), it still failed. Does anyone know why? Thanks!

I had trouble as well. But i got it to work by pressing the button on the opener, then pressing the mirror button until it blinks. Then press and hold again. I had to release and press 3-4 times before it worked.

Is there a control box in your garage? I had to go to the the control box and click a red/orange button which is the learn button. Then after pressing that button, I went back to the car and pressed the door opener on the mirror a few times. It worked after that.

I had some issues as well, but then I found out that my garage door uses a rolling code as opposed to a fixed one, which means there's an additional step after you sync your Homelink on the mirror to your garage door opener's remote. Once you sync that up (I think it's step 1 in the manual) then you have to press the learn button for your garage door. Mine was inside the light fixture casing on the actual opener, but yours might be somewhere else, so check your door's manual. Then once you press the learn button, go into your car and press the Homelink button you sync'd earlier like 1-3 times and it should wok immediately.

After I sync'd the Homelink button with the remote control, I also had to go to my garage door control unit and press the learning button. Just press that learning button once (mine is purple), within 30 seconds, press the Homelink button in your car several time. This step basically allows the control unit to pick up a new remote signal (that's what the dealer told me...) My first sign that the control unit and homelink button are linked successfully was the flashing garage door light. Right after that, the garage door started opening.
