Yes please, I too would like to see a screen shot. I don't doubt the 8% margin now, but what I question is the 20% margin in 2000.

This article from Forbes, albeit about domestic makes, would disagree with your assessments that margins are down, in fact they say they're on the upswing:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/joannmul...akers-profits/

Quotes:

All three U.S. automakers reported higher operating profits for the third quarter, driven largely by stellar results in their home market. North American profit margins were some of the best these carmakers have seen in years. General Motors' GM -2.88% margin was 9.3 percent (before interest and taxes), while Ford Motor F -4.31% earned 10.6 percent pre-tax and Chrysler earned 4.9 percent.
I also found this quarterly reporting of gross profit margin for Toyota between 2002 and today:

http://ycharts.com/companies/TM/gross_profit_margin

Interesting to see Toyota's current quarterly gross profit margin is slightly over 20%, which is almost exactly what it was in 2002. You'll see margin dips significantly with the onset of the recession, and then sharply around the time of the Tsunami, but it has come back to as strong as it has ever been.

The bottom line is Toyota is doing very well.

In any event, I also question what margin has to do with whether or not someone should choose an F Sport or non F Sport IS?

flaming the IS at every opportunity
What?

Sitting here laughing - people should know better than to pick a fight with you - you always come armed with details and facts - will they never learn?

Anyway - thanks for the info - good to know we don't have to feel guilty getting a 10-15% discount off sticker.

I personally would have rather had the luxury package over the f sport package. However Lexus only seems to be sending the f sport to California. There wasnt one non fsport 2015 IS350 in the entire state when I purchased my car. Annoying.

We can't get any F-Sport RWD here in the North East. Lexus' packaging and distribution decisions are annoying.

Default Nice ride!

I have the 2014 non-FSport IS 350. I came from a prius so it feels like a Ferrari! It handles great and has more power than I will ever need. So I guess the answer depends on what car you are coming from.

Default options

According to this, http://www.lexus.com/models/IS/comfort-design, you can get leather, seat memory, dimming side mirrors, and power tilt / telescope steering options on F Sports. Is this actually true? I guess you'd order and wait 4 mo. as if you were getting the PreCollision Dynamic Radar Cruise, Rear Sunshade, etc., stuff that never usually comes on dealer stock?

Based on that I would say leather and those other options are available on the 2015 F Sport. Can anybody confirm?

I didn't ask my rep after he said orders took 4 mo. but the Lexus configurator only has just the lux / nav / F Sport packages and accessories, and the cars.com configurator axes out those as incompatible.

Honestly, if I had a do over, I would get the non-F-sport and by some much better tires. If that didn't satisfy, I'd consider the Lexus F-Sport springs they offer as an accessory.

Sport + is great, but the tires still hold it back and the guage/headliner isn't exactly anything amazing IMO.

I'm not trying to knock the F Sport owners. Looking back that post sounds like I was being a *****head.

Just honestly how I feel.
