Default Front Wheels filthy after 1 month

Just got Is350 beginning of September and the rear wheel spokes are clean as can be, but the front are absolutely filthy and black. Is this normal with this type of engine, don't see any discussion on this so I was just wondering if there is a problem or it's normal? I was going to bring my car if there is an issue. Only has 1400 miles on it.

It is completely normal has NOTHING to do with the engine. The front brakes always work harder and therefore will experience more dust, especially during the first 100 or so miles when the brake pads are "seating". You should make it point to wash your car every two weeks, especially the wheels because brake dust can ruin the finish.

brake dust, and completely normal, they are performance pads, this is one of the downfalls to the type of pads they put on the car. I am a weekly washer and it never builds up that much.

The brake dust on my IS250 is driving me CRAZY, I think it is worse than any of my 2IS's.

Is your car an F-Sport? The F-Sport models have High Performance pads which produce a lot of dust. You can have your dealership swap them for the non F-Sport pads which produce less (not none, less) dust than the high performance pads but you will sacrifice stopping power. You can find the pads on Sewell and order them from there or talk to your salesperson about making the swap. A friend of mine is going to do it on his IS350 F-Sport soon.

As others have said, it's just brake dust and it's totally normal. All brakes make dust and performance brakes often make a lot of dust. The good news is that we have graphite colored wheels so they don't show it quite as much as typical silver wheels.

It is an FSport. Thanks everyone for the info. At least I know it's normal now. I never had this on my previous vehicle (Acura TL)

Brake dust. For me, it takes 1-2 weeks to get all covered up in dust. I'm always in Sport+ which is spirited driving most of the time.

I wash my car weekly and the front wheels get pretty dirty even in a week. I started using this Armor All Wheel Protectant and they stay a lot cleaner.

If you let it go a month, they'll be filthy even if you use that, though.

^ I have been using the armorall wheel protectant for 3 years on my cars and it works great.. I have found it works best if you don't apply it too heavy, and then let it dry before driving..

I have 22PLE on the wheels and it works great. I believe any wheel product will help with brake dust, but just how long will it last. I chose the 22PLE because it has the hydrophobic effect and leave the surface very slick. On the weekends I just blast water on the wheels and the brake dust just comes off. If I leave the wheels for more than two weeks, blasting with water will take majority of the brake dust off and leave some behind to wipe down. It doesn't cake up like before.

I have to admit I hate detailing wheels

Here is with 22PLE

Final results

I hate detailing wheels too. My GS has low dust brake pads and, even with that< I would not expect to go a month and have the wheels not look like crap. A weekly or every other week is pretty much a requirement to not have front wheels caked with brake dust regardless of what car you have. That's just my opinion, though.

This tool has saved me a significant amount of time on my wheel cleaning routine. I actually purchased both sizes but found the larger to be easier to use. It even gets in between the caliper and the barrel of the front wheels.
