Default 3is Blind spot monitor & cross traffic alert

hey guys, so my 3is blind spot monitor and cross traffic alert doesn't seem to work anymore.
I've tried playing around with the BSM button under the steering wheel.... i get nothing except a message on the dash saying "check BSM system"
anybody have an idea whats going on and how to fix it?

The correct message should have been "Please wash your car."

I doubt washing the car would fix it. The sensor is under the rear bumper and would not know dirt accumulation would caused an error. Contact your dealer.

When you turn it on it should flash on both mirrors for 2-3 seconds...Check with the dealer.

Give the car a wash, perhaps some dirt is stuck on one of the sensors? If that doesn't work, take the car to the dealer and they'll diagnose the problem. They may end up replacing both sensors; one may be defective.

I own a 3IS and a 2011 Acura RL Advance, on the RL, I had the same problem with the backup sensors, they simply weren't functioning probably. Since I have the extended warranty, they fixed them free of charge.

The sensors are radars placed behind the bumper cover, well protected from dirt.
Parking sensors are surface mounted ultrasound sensors. They are sensitive to dirt.
