Most states require it. Others its optional to have a front plate

So cops can aim their laser... so I've heard. If cops needed to see the front plate, don't you think a light would have been required?

Supposedly it's for safety reasons, the reflection on the plate helps identify oncoming vehicles. It's a lame law pre-DRL.
