Default Dealer's Interior Detailing Good or No?

So I came to a thought that maybe soon I will need an interior detailing due to everyday used on the seats and door panels along with the dusts built up on the dash and the fingerprints on the windows.

I would not be able to do the job myself because I have OCD and it would be a pain for me to clean the interior.

Would my local dealership do a good job on full interior detailing and how much would you guys expect it to cost?

Last time I brought my car in for check up they wiped the dusts and vacuum the carpets for free, but I saw vacuum scuff marks on the carpets along with some streak on the dash and on my navigation screen......

Would you guys think if I paid for specifically the interior detailing service, they would do a better job?

The dealership I went to was Lexus of Serramonte in the bay area.

don't let the dealership touch the exterior or interior of your car any more than they absolutely need to, i.e. any more than is necessary for service reasons. that they did a poor job just vacuuming and wiping down your dash should be indicative enough to stay as far away as possible.

if you are going to pay for a detailing service, pay a well-reputed detailer, someone who does this all for a living.

just for reference - this is the sort of damage the dealership is capable of and what was necessary to remedy said damage. the car given the dealership's 'normal' pre-delivery detail and then covered with glazes so that all of the damage done was imperceptible until it was washed by my detailer about a week later. the damage was severe and i was reimbursed by the dealership without hesitation after correction.

the top portion outlines the damage and as you scroll down it outlines the process and then the final results.
Davy's 2014 IS 250 Dealer-Caused Paint Damage and Correction

it was an absolute total nightmare to deal with but all was fixed shortly thereafter and i made it clear that if the dealership weren't the reimburse for both the paint correction as well as the application of cquartz finest that i would be contacting corporate. i was mailed out a check the same day for 1,250$.

I understand that they may be careless when handling our cars, but if I were to pay them for detailing the interior do you guys think the result when finish would be above average? I do not know of any detailers around west bay area that I trust to have them detail my car, but for the dealer I can hold them responsible if anything goes wrong. The dealer I occasionally goes to has the highest rating in the bay area, at least I think they do......

again, do not let the dealership touch the exterior nor the interior of your vehicle any more than is absolutely necessary.

search for well-reputed, established detailers as there are a whole lot to choose from in the bay area.

there are horror stories galore of "detailing" done by dealerships. you described yourself as suffering from OCD and if one of your obsessions or compulsions is to ensure that the car is spotless, then do not use the dealership's detailing services, as it certainly won't be when they are done with it.

that's my advice and i'm sure many, if not most CL members would agree.

i have the feeling that since your OCD, you will be disappointed with the dealer detailing. I would expect OCDers would do it themselves or else it will drive them nuts

My dealership has separate departments for regular service washes and specific detailing. When our customer's ask for an interior or exterior detail, they go through a separate area and are worked on by different people. I have no issues with my dealerships interior details, they do a good job, I usually wash my car on my own by hand, but I have those detail guys wash it over the winter. Call me crazy.

Every dealer and dealer employees are different.

Well if I were to do the interior detailing myself, what should I use to clean the navigation screen from dusts and now the streak caused by the dealer? What can I use to clean the dash, door panels, and seats? I know to use the invisible glass aerosols for windows. What do you guys use if you were to do detailing yourself?

I wouldn't have them touch the interior on the IS as it's very delicate. The center console an clear plastic panels around the gauges, screen, tranny are all very easy to scratch. If you decide to proceed, take good closeup pics of these finishes before you have them work on it.

Yea forget the dealer, I just want to simply wipe off the dust and touch up afterwards.

Might just used the 303 aerospace that some people mention for the dash and door panels along with a microfiber cloth. For the windows I guess I would use the invisible glass aerosols?

Now every time I bring my car into the dealer I will tell them not to clean the interior.

Well, I was thinking about it and I'm still hesitating if I should do it myself because then my OCD would kick in and I may probably over clean the interior which might turn out good or bad.

If I just let the dealer clean it and do some touch up they shouldn't do a terrible job right? Considering I can always go back in and hold them responsible for any uncertainty.

I have this sort of familiar close relationship with the dealership and the service consultant . I would probably tell him to have the guys be careful on the navigation screen etc.

Just wondering if anyone let reading this post have let the dealership clean and detail their interior? It sucks to have OCD!
