Just bought- what, if anything, to upgrade?
Just bought my 3IS - 250, non F-sport, RWD, Atomic silver / gray interior. I was thinking about putting new speakers OR an amp and sub, but reconsidering after reading some of Bass Mech's posts. Maybe $500-$1000 to spend... What to do??

Congratulations and welcome to CL! Great color you purchased!
Are you only interested in stereo modifications or other items as well? Personally, I think tinted windows and a slight drop would really complement your Atomic Silver color choice.

Thanks!
Considering any type of upgrade. I got the 30% tint all around (darkest legal tint in TX). What level of drop do you think starts to complicate functionality? It's my daily driver at the moment, so I certainly don't want to scrape speed bumps or anything.

Do you have the 17" or 18" wheels?
Others can chime in on drop recommendations. I prefer a mild one to close out the gap some, but nothing over the top.
Other things to consider would be a paint sealant like OptiCoat, which may not be a big visual impact, but it will offer you a good level of paint protection. You could also swap out the interior lighting for LED for a simple DIY upgrade.

I'll look into the lighting, thank you. I have the 18" wheels, which I think look really good with that color. Have you had any issues with paint longevity?

Not sure what is your style but non f-sport wheels are ugly IMO so definitely switch those out. I can't suggest anything because I don't know what you like, but definitely get some 19" wheels and RS*R Super Down springs. It will give it the best look with the wheel/drop combination. Sound system upgrades would be nice. Does your version IS have ML?

It does scratch and get swirl marks pretty easily. I coated mine, and have observed a substantial improvement in scratch and swirl resistance.
Just wanted to throw the paint coating idea out there. Not really a sexy upgrade, but in my opinion, worth it.
