Default Small Cups

The little cup holders are so you only buy small drinks and your butt doesn't get too big to fit in the seat!

in addition, their position makes it awkward to retrieve or place your drink in them making spillage even more likely. I will use them for additional storage, I.e., key fob and whatnot. The ones in my previous car, an older three series, was excellent in design to properly secure drinks with different diameters and placement. The design, I believe is a carryover for the 2IS. Lexus did a lot right in this car. This was not one of them.

I forgot the cupholders suck and ordered a large drink on the drive thru. Little did I know, the large was the size of a big gulp! Lucky it was close by my house, so i had it between my legs. Never again! Would've been a big mistake if it spilled!

Default Cup Holders

I agree, the cup holders are pretty useless for beverages. Although, no food or drink are allowed in my SC430, Pebble Beach edition. 😎

Hate to be the only one to differ, but no problems here with the cup holders. Though the car I had before this had those goofy cup holders that pop out of the dash area.

Bottled water, Starbucks coffee, average fountain soda sizes seem to to be no problem in the cup holders.

Has anyone found a good quality thermal mug and water bottle that fits? My favorite is the Contigo series from Costco but they don't fit
Thats interesting. The Contigo cups from Costco is all I use in my IS. The fit in those cupholders perfectly. Are the one you are using the self sealing type?

I hate the position of the cupholders, hard to reach. But I've found that some bottles and cups fit in the side door. There is a small partition towards the front and seem to be designed for that purpose. Much easier to reach, for me anyway.

Is there any way to replace them with the ones with the claws to grab onto our drinks so they don't slightly slide around within the cup holder itself??

They appear to be removable, so it would seem they could be replaced. Hopefully somebody can post about it if it is done by anyone.

Post a link where cup holders can be ordered with the teeth? Or you have to buy from parts dept at dealer?
