Default Velgen 19 vs 20" help

I'm new to Lexus. I came from Mitsubishi Evo, BMW 1 serries, and Audi. I race them in SCCA, NASA, and Time attack for over 5 years now. I recently trade my Audi for a 2014 Lexus IS350 Sports. Looking get new wheels. I have my eyes on the Velgen MVB5 wheels. My problem is how low the car would be after using 19" with drop springs like RSR down or Tein S-tech? I don't like the car to be too low, where i can't even enjoy spirit driving in the canyon. So any of you Lexus expert please chime in and give advice. Thanks

I would research the following threads:

20" wheels:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...recommend.html

19" wheels"
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...2013-14-a.html

In regards to springs, there are multiple threads in this area.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...nd-brakes-250/

What are you planning to do with the car; track it, all show and no go, daily driver?

If really depends on the type of setup you plan on doing. If you are looking to go with something clean and simple without having to run stretch tires or roll fenders then you might want to go with a 19" setup. I've seen a few 3IS's on 19's and they look great with a mild drop on springs.

If you go with 20's staggered, you will most definitely need to run a stretch tire in the rear if the car is being lowered. I'm running a 20x9 & 20x10.5 and it looks great but im also slammed on RSR coilovers. I rolled/pulled my fenders too. When i first got my car it lowered on RSR springs and i did not have any fender work done and it never rubbed or had any issues with the 20's. But as i mentioned above, i was using stretch tires.

Thank you for the help guys. Looking like 19" is the way to go since im not a fan of stretch tire cause i think it look and drive like crap. The car will be a daily and occasionally track.

I'm running 19 velgen vmb5 on my 3is lowered on j5 coil overs. if you plan on lowering it on springs like rsr down or the s techs you won't have a problem with fenders . i am pretty slammed and only rub on big dips on the rear driver side other than that no problems

Everyone has their opinion on what stretch is, but the Velgen 19x10.5 will still require a 265 or 275 tire which is a stretch in my mind. However, if you choose the right tire, it won't look that bad. Here are some good pics of the Velgens with Falken 453's and they don't look very stretched. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/clu...en-wheels.html

Vossen has some 19x10 wheels available which are narrower, but they are still a stretch for a 265 imo.

I'm going with 19x9.5 wheel since that's a proper fit for a 265 tire. I don't see the sense of running a wider wheel if you can't put a wider tire on it. That is......assuming you can find 19x9.5 wheel that you like. Just my $.02 worth - I hate stretched tires too.
