Thanks for the info. I stand corrected.. but i feel like it's unfair to compare lexus to MB/BMW since they have longer history and not a branch out brand like lexus.. maybe with more time lexus will move up..

You're welcome. I agree and suspect that all of the recent changes are part of a drive to increase the value of the brand.

Yeah the black areas on each side are pretty annoying, but after having the car for a couple weeks I don't notice it anymore. I'm looking at the speedometer most of the time anyways.

Lexus must replace that Nav screen to this one:

Isn't that the $100K S-class?

I was interested in getting the new IS, but as soon as I sat down in one and saw the dash, I changed my mind. Looks like it was designed in the '90s, and the size of the screen doesn't bother me so much as it looks like someone just stuck it on there with some Velcro! I'll wait.

At least it doesn't look like this:

That looks like a cheap GPS unit stuck on with velcro.

^^ I agree the design on the C class isn't loved by everyone either.

But I'm wondering why Lexus didn't do some kind of port from the GS to the IS? Not that I want the same humongous screen, but IMO cost isn't an excuse for what I call a poor layout on the IS, AND the start-stop button sits lower on the GS just like on the BMW and Merc. It can't cost more than a couple hundreds $ to have this bigger screen standard on all IS. Or can it?

It's still not a deal-breaker for me for the IS, though.

Wow! Yeah, that's way cheaper looking. I'll take the IS.

IS nav screen looks a lot more integrated than CLA and BMW F30. CLA looks the worst, and BMW screen looks like iPad sticking out half way. At least IS nav is flush.

Definitely think Lexus could have done better with the screen size for very little money. I would have paid the extra $500 to get the bigger size screen and Lexus probably makes big profit off that.

I had GS loaner car for few days while the dealer installed the LED fogs and I noticed the huge difference in viewing area when I got the IS.

I agree that CLA interior is not very attractive but I didn't think BMW interior was much better. I really like the Lexus interior design even with puny screen.

Obviously it's important to him. You don't have to agree but I think most would agree screen is on the smaller side especially given large empty spaces to the sides.
