Default SHOUT OUT: 3IS AWD F Sport is AMAZING in Snow

Have to give a quick shout out for how AMAZING the 3IS AWD F Sport is in snow.

Drove into / through a snow bank / un-ploughed portion of a municipal parking lot that was AT LEAST 6 inches in depth, parked on same (door difficult to open), went into Trader Joe's, returned and drove out / off of it earlier tonight without ANY difficulty (became frustrated after searching for a spot for too long and said the hell with it).

Parking lot is notorious for being poorly maintained in the winter and others searching for what was very limited parking were looking at me as if I was crazy and that I’d get stuck, but no.

Wouldn’t attempt same in my 2011 BMW 750Li xDrive (knowing its poor snow performance!) and happy to report I felt as confident as in my Range Rover when driving out / off of the un-ploughed area.

Great AWD, which Lexus rarely advertises!

Also: My wheel and tire setup is stock.

I concur, I commute to work from Queens to Long Island and back and I notice really good grip and handling on the road as well!

DItto, I mentioned this a few times already in various threads and forums, I dare say the 3IS with the stock Turanzas is as good to slightly better than the RX with the stock Michelin Latitudes.

BTW, you guys on the US east coast got hammered the last 24 hrs with ~ 12 inches of snow??? That system just was south enough to barely miss Toronto.

Yes, Gentlemen. There's something about it, I don't know. Somehow the car feels 'light on it's feet' in snow, such that it doesn't get 'bogged down', but in all other driving still feels very planted and that it's a good weight (not light, which I equate to feeling cheap and not referring to 'handling' light, but 'touring' heavy when dry, which is good)...

NJ here, going through our forth of fifth good sized snow storm.. Can't argue with the previous posters, I'm impressed with the AWD IS350 in the snow - and this is with the stocker All-Seasons. This is my first AWD car, it won't be my last . Now if we could only get the GSh in AWD ..

I too live in Queens and drive to suffolk daily and had no trouble this winter with all the snow we had. I actually enjoy driving in the snow now. I don't think I'll ever go back to FWD again as this is my 1st AWD car.

Trust me, it's the superb balance of the 3IS that makes it fun, and the drifting is sweeet! I had several AWD vehicles in my lifetime including a RAV4, three RXs, CR-V, MDX, a Subaru GL, and even the 2IS AWD, and none were/are as rewarding as the 3IS.

I agree with you guys too, I actually love driving in the snow and I feel confident about the handling because our cars can handle it.

+1, agree with the fact that the 3IS AWD system performs amazing well, especially being a sedan and not an SUV

I know many on here say that RWD with snow tires is as good as AWD with all seasons, but I really do prefer the AWD setup. It's pretty impressive what these cars can do with all seasons.

Do you have winter tires on yours?

Some others have had the same complaint:
