Lexus ES more fun and faster in a straight line than IS/BMW 3?

I'm not baiting. To me a $40,000 car is a $40,000 car. I have no idea how fast any of these cars go. I know my friend drives a 800 HP Evo and he thinks all Lexus/BMW are a joke... he said you buy these cars for luxury+a sporty element.
I was simply asking if the dealer is right. Is a Lexus ES faster than a 3 series/IS in a straight line acceleration from 0-80?
Stats seem to say it is.

I don't know your background, but if your SN is any indication of your age, I'm surprised you don't read more stats, comparison tests, reviews, offical press, offical manufacturer websites, and even watch videos - all accessible online. Younglings are usually pretty tech savvy in this day and age.
That's your friends problem. He drives a highly modified econobox meant for hardcore no frills driving. He doesn't understand the finer things in life, like quality and refinement. Luxury vehicles are far harder to make because not only do you have to uphold the attributres that make a luxury badge worthy of a luxury badge, you have to give it performance merits. In contrats, a gusied up Lancer need not worry about upgrading its hard plastics, just upping the powertrain and suspesnion.
The ES350 will beat an IS250 and 320i in a straight line. It will not beat the IS350, 328i or 335i.

Your post history doesn't agree with infammatory statements and topics you've posted thus far on these boards, but moving on.

If you're talking about an IS250 or 320 the ES may be faster in a straight line, but the ES is FWD, nose heavy, and is not at all designed to be a neutral precise handling car. The IS and 3 series will absolutely run circles around an ES. I had two ESs, they are great cars but its a completely different car than an IS or 3 series.

Please don't waste your time with Tim1988. In the few days he's been a forum member, he's provoked meaningless discussions. Here's his initial post:
I'm a student. My Mom brought me an Acura TL for my first car, I moved on to an Audi A4 and Lexus IS.
I am currently debating weather I want to tell my Mom to buy me a Acura MDX or Lexus RX350,
I drive back home and clean my Mom's house once a month so I feel less guilty about her buying me all those cars over the years.
I promised her that when I graduate and get a high paying job of my own, I will buy her a Mazda 3 for all the beautiful 'Entry Level Luxury Sedans and Luxury SUVS' she brought me,
She deserves it.
I'm going to get her a red Mazda 3 with all the fixings.
Impressed? Seem credible to you? His subsequent posts and threads are inflammatory, inconsistent, and intermittently ridiculous. This one is tame by comparison. And while the ability to use the English language consistently diminishes on internet forums, he somehow manages to lower the bar, particularly for someone who claims to be a college student. Don't believe me? Read his posts.
Look, I'm not into character assassination, but I'm really not sure why we have to tolerate this guy.

But... I'd rather have a 800hp M3/335i..... lol
Lexus will never see these numbers unless it's the IS300(2JZ)/LFA.... ha
