Default Auto Upshifts

Alright... read several threads on here where people claim their 3IS will hold a gear while in manual mode and bang off the limiter. Even one of the online video reviews of the 3IS showed this.

I've tried to recreate this to no avail. Tried it in Sport and Sport + with TCS on, short press off, long press off, and after doing the pedal dance. Don't know what else to do...

Not really wanting to take it to the dealer and say "my car isn't letting me beat the **** out of it regardless how much I try."

Only interested in being able to do this at the strip or if I ever take the car to a track day. I haven't tested this out while mid-corner...

Car is a 14 IS350 Fsport.

Thanks all.

Long press TC off should have done the trick. Are you getting the orange TC light on the left side of the dash?

Yup... on both the pedal dance and the long press.

been looking for some guidance on this too. when i put the shifter in manual mode to use the paddle shifters and floor it, it always shifts near redline right before i shift, thus going up two gears. its so effing annoying jumping from 1st to 3rd gear like that.. hell i'll prob lose to a civic doing that (not that i race other others or condone it). need to find out how to avoid the computer from shifting before i do!

although i wonder if there really is no way around this when you're going in a straight line. it does hold the gear when i'm going on bends and turns or whatnot, but when i just want to do a quarter mile blast, the damn thing always shifts ahead of me! could that be the reason, that it doesn't hold gear while going straight?

You have to be stopped when you hold the button down.

Yes I'm aware of that. I'm properly disabling TC via the TRAC button and pedal dance.

Sorry to sound like a total new, but what is the pedal dance?

It's a way to completely disable the TC.

Start Car
Engage Parking Break
Press Brake 3 times (holding on the 3rd)
Disengage Parking Break and Re-Engage 3 times (leaving down on the 3rd)
Press Brake 2-3 times (TC light will come on)

Just make sure on the parking break you're letting the light come on/off on the presses.

I thought the pedal dance was only needed on '06 models. Starting in '07, holding down the button for 10 seconds does the same thing as the pedal dance, or so I understood.

Default is350 f sport

I've been trying to figure this out myself. I just learned how after messing around with the settings. Through the cluster go into settings and turn (Rev peak) and (Rev indicator) to off. After doing this and having Trac completely off I was able to bank first and spin all through 2nd laying strips. I love this car even more now that I've figured this out. It was a huge annoyance not being able to actually "drive" the car.

I thought those indicators were just for the driver to see. Maybe turning them off actually affects the shift point too. More good questions for our tech. people.

Odd. I tried to lay in it again and it's shifting auto. Not sure what allowed it to hold the gear the first attempt. Frustrating

Yeah it's pretty frustrating. The G37S will hold it's gear and let you "drive" the car. Granted, I still prefer the 3IS over the G...
