Like some others in the NE, my 3IS is on the Heijin, headed for the Panama Canal destined to dock at Newark/Elizabeth NJ the day after Thanksgiving. In the meantime, I found this 2012 NYT article (link above) which talks about those massive "roll on, roll out" RORO vessels that transport as many as 8500 of our cars at a time from Japan to North America.

I found the description and photos of the logistics involved particularly interesting.

The Heijin is listed as being docked near the Panama Canal at the moment. One step closer to dropping off our cars on the East Coast!

Thank God! This waiting game is getting pretty old. How long have you been waiting? I put my order in on 5 OCT. I sold my last car in last September, so its been a while since i've been in my own vehicle. Fortunately, my dealership gave me a loaner (2013 rx350) to use until my car gets here. By that time i'll have had the loaner for about a month and a half. I thought that was pretty cool of them to do. Shout out to Burdick Lexus!!

I ordered mine in late August. I had to order mine from the factory rather than taking something in the pipeline for dealer allocation or in dealer trade. I had to do it this longer way because I wanted a combination (AWD and ML) not usually sent to the North East region.

I am waiting a little longer than you. Ordered in late Aug. Car expected to be in port on Sat. Yay. I hope the ship New Nada had a smooth trip. Strange name for the ship. New Nothing. The dealer giving you a free loaner is a great.

Yeah, my dealer pretty much just handed me the keys and said have fun until my car arrived. Their definitely a good bunch of guys.

Just checked the satellite. Looks like the Heijin is making its way into port in Jacksonville. So, some Florida area members can look forward to getting their new cars soon!

The Heijin is shown as docked in Newark, NJ. So those in the Tristate area expecting their 3IS in early December should get their holiday wish soon!
