Default Choppy Navigation Normal?

Is it just me or is our navigation pretty choppy? Basally, the screen scrolls frame by frame. Instead of scrolling smoothly as we drive.

Pretty crappy for a 2014 navigation system. My 2006 Navigation so smoother and more accurate.

The Navi on my IS350 is about half a block off!

Why does is scroll frame by frame?

There is a firmware update available for this already, this is the first of the SD card systems, getting the bugs out.

Some 2014 model year IS 250 and IS 350 vehicles equipped with navigation may exhibit one or
more of the following conditions:
• Unit reboots at times when using various navigation/Bluetooth®
operations.
• Display turns black or white, freezes, flashes, or is slow to respond.
• Intermittently cannot play Pandora®
or iHeartRadio, Bluetooth®
Audio, DVD, or iPod.
• Bluetooth®
functions are inoperative or cannot change to Phone screen.
• Erroneous navigation guidance or operation, or cannot set destinations.
• Cursor is not shown, freezes, turns black, or is slow to respond.
• Incorrect pop-up menus or pop-ups that continue to be shown.
• Blinking button(s) on various audio/Bluetooth®
screens.
• Cannot use customized images or other settings.
• Cannot select applications from the HOME screen using the cursor.
• XM Satellite Radio presets not displayed.
A software update is now available to address these conditions

I don't have any of those issues. I'm talking about the navigation screen itself. Where the circle represents the car, and as it moves during a drive, the screen itself is choppy.

It basically moves frame by frame as we drive. Instead of scrolling smoothly.

My sales rep claims the car has the latest updates when they did the PID. Or whatever you call it.

I guess I've been lucky: I've never seen the screen choppy. Smooth scrolling for me.

Okay, my service adviser lied to me. I just checked my version and it's the old one.

I'm going to schedule an appointment to have them update the firmware and change my blinker to blink 5 times.

I might be off on your particular case then, but in general the firmware malfunction affects MOST navigation operation, basically anything weird. If you are wondering what version you have here is how you can check. Salesmen know a lot of facts, but if you want to know for sure.

It's not upgraded in the PID.

cycle the key to get out of the screen.

The update would be covered under warranty. Its done through a flash drive installed in your USB port in the console.

Yeah, I didn't notice it either until the passenger pointed it out. I'll see if an update would fix this. Everyone should complain about this.

i'm sure this is not the latest SW update.. i'm new to lexus, but how often would they send out updates to fix bugs like this? Often or not at all? anyone with experience with other Lexus models can comment?

Maybe its the sd card? Is it a class 10 card? If not, we could try transferring the stuff on stock sd card to a new class 10 sd card.

I have notice this slow navigation interface and its quite annoying. for example when you type an address it just does not keep up with the typing is quite disconcerting....
hopefully they will come out with a proper fix soon

It's possible. Give it a try and let us know. I'm surprised they didn't go with fast SSD drive or something. How big is the SD card?
