Curb Rash and Leasing
This will be my first lease since '94 and while low (low) profile tires were not en vogue to be an issue for curb rash back then, I bought the car out at the end of its lease anyway, so damage wasn't an issue back then.
Nevertheless, does anyone have any insight over how curb rash is treated on leased vehicles these days? Really not happy to learn that F-Sport models DO NOT (!?) have automatically dipping side view mirrors and wondering how concerned I should be about curb rash come lease turn in.
Thanks.

Well I work for Toyota ( not Lexus ) and they are very lenient when it comes lease returns scratches under 12in door dings as long as its less than 3 per panel they let slide in my career I have never seen them ding anyone for curb rash on wheels bent wheels yes but curb rash no again I work for Toyota even tho they are the parent company to Lexus I'm not 100% sure if same rules apply but I wouldn't really worry about curb rashed wheels I'm leasing my Lexus and if I decide to return it after the lease you have so many options ( selling it, trading it in, buying it, just walking away ) the just walking away option is where they hit you for damage and exceeding your miles

If someone wants to buy out their lease the end of the term, can they negotiate a better price than the residual they agreed to upfront?

You can also get one of those mobile repair places to repair them, I have had good experience with the guy who does it in my area and it somewhere between $100 and $150 to repair one area. I have only curbed a wheel once and I always park in end spots but I have also had him repair where there was damage after having a tire replaced, I have had chips every time I get a tire replaced, even at the Lexus dealer.

very good explanation from isthree50, and yes if your car have any major damage at all better to trade it in for something else, this is the first time im leasing a car and i know i'm gonna go over my miles i will probably trade it in before the lease ends or at the end.....
