Anyone Else Having This Issue With Their Dash?
My dash is discoloring or fading on the right hand side by the air bag. I tried cleaning it with several things, but it doesnt seem to be any better..possibly worse. Anyone else seeing this? The pic I'm posting isn't too easy to make out...but it'll give an idea.

Is it near the vent? If so, yes, mine is similar but I just thought it was finger prints or a haze or dirt like what you get on the inside of your windshield. Will look into it more closely.

Hmmm, I couldn't wait till tomorrow. Look at mine, nearly identical to yours.
I'll be "troubleshooting" this weekend in daylight to see what I find. It almost looks like some sort of protective coating (from manufacturing?) that is fading out because if you look more closely, the grain (lines) is darker than the top surface texture of the dash material.

^^^^^ If we all have it, maybe "normal" and I'm ok with it for the texture lines to be darker, but mine and PJJames we have darker plastic sections in a random shape. Weird.... I'll report in a couple days to study this better in daylight and try a few things see if I have any luck.

AndyL, I have it on both passenger and driver's side and upon careful inspection, some other "blotches" across the dash nearer to the windshield . Best way to describe it is a layer of low-shine armor-all on the upper textured grain and black paint stuck in the lines of the grain.
I tried 70% rubbing alcohol and it is slightly better. See before and after. Third pic is the driver's side after I rubbed it once with the alcohol. Perhaps a few more attempts...

I used a Turtle Wax version years ago which "painted" any faded exterior black trim back to black. Worked well but this is on a Civic and my '91 MR2 like 15 or so years ago.
Is this a similar product? Will it "add paint"? Will it be glossy?
Thanks

Nah, I don't see this being related to heat or the sun. I'm in Toronto and it's been quite cool and cloudy. In fact I noticed this "issue" from day 1 but dismissed it as fingerprints grease that I would tackle eventually. When this thread came up, it got my attention and here we are. It really looks like color pigmentation residue of some sorts left behind from the mold used to create the dash.
