Android Bluetooth Music Streaming and (Lack of) Control
I thought I'd finally move into the 21st century and jump on the mp3/bluetooth streaming wagon. Was always the traditional CD-album guy and after this, I may need to go back.
Problem is, I can't change track with the radio or steering wheel controls. Also, unlike the phone which automatically is available for use after the auto-connection happens via the car's controls, I have to manually launch the player on my phone then push play on it. Once done, music plays from the BT Audio system and when that track is complete, moves on automatically to the next one. The control of pausing, playing, skipping tracks does not work via the car (steering and audio controller) and is ONLY possible from the phone which defeats the purpose of a hands-free driving experience.
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Android v4.3 and I've tried both Google Play Music and the native "Music" player on the device, with no luck. I have the standard Display Audio Controller (no-NAV), but any feedback is welcome.
Thanks!

I have an iPhone 5, so I can be of little to no help to you, but can point out that I also have to launch the music from my phone first, and any selection of playlists and such has to be done from my phone.
However, I can pause, stop, and fast forward a track using the head unit and steering wheel controls.
Most often I just use Pandora through Enform.

That's weird cause I have the s5 and I have no problems what so ever with the Bluetooth , try unpaired it and pairing it up again and make sure you have phone and audio check marked once it's synced. Hope that helps

I have a Nexus 5 and have no problem with BT, also using Google Play Music. I can skip and pause with head unit and steering wheel. Display current song title and artist, but does not have what song is up next.

It works great with my old Galaxy S3 & my new Sony Xperia Z1S.
Everything connects automatically.
I use Spotify & Amazon Cloud Player.
As long as you don't close down your music app between drives, it'll continue playing automatically when you turn on your car again.
The current song title info didn't display when using my S3, but it does for the Z1S

Lumia 1020 Here, bt Works like a charm except that there's a lag from input (from phone or car no difference) to output.
If I press the Button, on the steering Wheel, For next track I have to wait like 3 seconds before something happens. Weird.

Folks, thanks for the ideas and comments.
What puzzles me is I have the same issue on my '13 RX (with NAV) lending me now to believe it could be an issue with my Note 2. BTW, anyone with a Note 2?
I'll have to try my wife's (old) S3...

Just noticed you also have an S5.. Are you having any issues with Bluetooth messaging? For some reason my messages won't pop up or if I click the message icon no messages display. Is there something I am missing?
Thanks!

So after setting up my wife's S3 to my car, BT Audio works flawlessly and as expected. I can initiate the song playing from the IS's steering or Display Audio controls without ever launching the app or pushing play from the phone. I'm also able to FF, skip tracks, etc from the car. Totally hands-free like the phone operation, so long as Bluetooth is enabled of course on the S3.
Clearly a compatibility issue with my Note 2. If anyone stumbles on this, has a Note 2, and has their's working, interested to know how.

Mine works fine, I get my messages thru my screen, make sure you go to settings, on your screen and make sure you have everything on where it says accept message notifications, go under general, settings and smu messaging, good luck, it's funny when it reads it to you too lol
