Yeah I noticed it when I was looking at the JX35 last week, the new 2014s are branded QX60 and the 3.5 is on the fenders. Reminds me of old Subarus and things like that...

The new naming scheme doesn't allow for the engine size to be reflected in the model name...I think their whole decision to change the way they name their models is just stupid in general...

No, you should take the IS to the Infiniti dealer and say "look what i got".

Agreed. Very limiting IMO. Q50 now exists. Then take for instance Q60 which is the G37 Coupe and Q70 is the M. Any other coupe, convertible, or sedan they would want to release in the hot (volume) price range between 40-60K, they can't name it since the number scheme reflects a hierarchy of vehicle price. What will they create, a Q55, Q65, ... ? The other thing I don't like is the G37 coupe is not a higher up-model than the G37 sedan (or Q50), yet as a Q60, it (incorrectly) means a higher model in the Infiniti hierarchy. If they wanted to go this "Q" hierarchy route like they did with their SUVs (QX), they should have had a "QC" naming for coupes and the G37 coupe would be a QC50...

Engine size emblem is tacky. Reminds me of the Chevy Celebrity/Pontiac 6000/Buick Century with the 2.8 or 3.1 "Multi-port Fuel Injection" emblem on their side fenders near the headlight, or like some of the recent Mazdas. Not expected from a Japanese luxury brand - sad.

True, and in the case of Infiniti, would have been nice to separate their Coupes/Convertibles out with a new moniker (QC) IMO.

Yup. 1 day my USB 3IS, "The Lightning", will strike!!!
(Sadly, they're calling for T-storms/lightning tomorrow afternoon when I pick up the car. I sure did jinx myself... )

That's beautiful. The Universe has a sense of poetry and a sense of humor -- delivering lightning on the day you pick up "The Lightening"! Good thing you didn't name it "The Lightening Strikes". In keep with God's poetic genius and sense of humor -- you might not make it home. Your USB would then stand for Unbelievably Scorched Black.

Whats another odd decision is the fender does have a 3.7 badge on the sides. Yet they stated themselves they went with this name system as that didn't matter. That reminds me to remove it.
