As far as I know, there are still more people not buying a 3-series in this segment than those who do. Simply being the number one is not impressively dominant, not until you beat everyone else combined. Also, 3-series has four body styles, whereas the others are mostly sedans and seldom have both coupe and station wagon simultaneously.

I keep telling people Floyd Mayweather isn't dominant until he can beat everyone at the same time...

2 mags tested IS350 F-Sport vs 335i and IS350 won both times.

What is there to speculate anymore?

Interesting.

As to the F30, all these tests cant be wrong... apparently its suspension and steering sucks.
I suppose it depends on what your definition of "best" is. As a businessman I have a hard time reconciling what the car enthusiast in me says which car is the best and what the businessman in me says which car is the best. In a for profit enterprise...you want the product that sells the most.

unless you own Toyota or BMW stock, your definition of best should have nothing to do with sales.

I think GS is a lot better vehicle than RX. Maybe for Lexus, RX is a lot better because it makes them much more money, but why would i care about making more money for Lexus?

So F30 is becoming a Camry of its class. Which is great, Camry's sell great, they are great for many.

I said it rules the segment in terms of sales, not that its the best in the segment. - 2 different things

I think the IS350 is a really FRESH and Modern design - i love the interior, just wish the Nav was bigger.
I have seen a bunch already in NYC Streets , hopefully it sells well.

I'm not sure how Beamer and Benz will go at the end of the year, but here are the stats for now.
The old BMW 3 Series E90 peaked in 2007 with 142,490 in the USA.
The new 3 Series F30 sold 99,602 in its release year.
More importantly, the F30 in its first full year has only sold 49,162 in the first 6 months of 2013, with an anticipated full year sales of 98,324.

Meanwhile the C Class which peaked at 81,697 last year, is on track for their biggest finish ever with 45,902 sold in the first 6 months, and an anticipated full year total of 91,804 for 2013.

The A4 and A5 has also increased its sales.

Most importantly, the new Cadillac ATS that debuted last year at 7,008 units, has now amassed 19,183 YTD for an anticipated 2013 total of 38,366 units across America.

Thus the F30 is unable to reach its predecessor's volume.
While the C Class and A4/A5 are selling better than ever.
And the Cadillac ATS has made an impressive debut.
The increase in volume of competitors has come at the expense of F30 volume.

The new 3IS for 2013 may also hack into F30 volumes too.

Just keep in mind that just because a car sells, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is a good car.
And just because a car doesn't sell, it doesn't mean that it is a bad car.
Though sales sure helps company profits...

Actually if you watched the review, one reviewer thought the 3 was last, the other thought the ATS was last. You were so excited that the BMW was last that you wrote an erroneous statement.

Personally, I'm surprised at the results, but that's good to know that the 3IS' sporty nature is not just skin deep.

Folks, I've removed several off topic posts and callouts. Let's keep this thread on the topic of the review please.

I will remind members to respect the opinions of other Club Lexus members even if they don't align with yours. Not everyone is going to like every car, and that's OK as long as you disagree politely.

jbayse99, I'd like for you to exit this thread please.

You're right but what's important is :

BOTH reviewers ranked the BMW last in driving appeal.

That's pretty astounding for a car supposedly to be the Ultimate Driving Machine.

Seems more like a marketing slogan than actual reality now.......

I see... interestingly enough, when you look at other reviewers, it seems like they disagree.

This particular video by edmunds show that everyone enjoyed the 3 series (albeit a 328) over the ATS 2.0 and the IS250F.... I don't know, I wouldn't put so much stock in reviewers' conclusions since it seems they are all pretty close and what probably matters is YOUR own opinion of the cars.
