It seems like all one would need to buy are the blank sensors, and then a tire shop could clone them to the ID's of the stock sensors?

Yes...

You buy the black sensors and the shop programs them to have the same codes as the OE ones.

Default Tpms

I have a 2002 SC430 with low profile tires (245/40R18). I kept getting warning light on my dash. The tires always look low to me. When they are low I could not tell from just looking. The dealer told me the warning light comes on when the pressure is down 25%. At approximately 8 lbs down that warning is much too late. Leaving out the step by step with the dealer, I'll cut to the chase. On ebay I found valve stem pressure gauges that turn yellow at approximately 10% down and red at app. 15% down. Yellow at 3 lbs and red at 5 lbs. The sensor warns at about 8 lbs. These valve stem gauges cost $2.00 a piece and work great. $10.00 for 4 tires and the spare. Hope this helps someone.

so after reading through this thread this is my understanding

i just purchased a 2011 RX450h, it will have the winter tire pkg - so the dealer will have installed the TPMS sensors & recoded the ECU
i can purchase the quickset tool and read the winter tire ID's from the ECU
in the spring i can get my mechanic to read the summer tires & load the ECU
i then can read the summer ID's from the ECU so i have both in the quickset tool & then i can do it myself after that
if i'm wrong please let me know where

Has anyone used the EZ sensors on their 2014 IS so far?

That's what I'm going to do. I ordered the Ateq code reader and when it arrives I"ll do the same. 2 sets of wheels,2 sets of codes. Should be easy to do.

This is my plan B

I really want to see if anyone was able to make the EZ sensors work on their car. Discount Tire is now telling me that the sensors are not compatible with the 2014 model.

What I don't get is how can that be!?

Does the 2014 IS share sensors with any other model in Lexus' lineup? The EZ sensors are available for the 2013 ES350.

Just received sensors from myLparts.com but they did not come with the retaining nut? Are they supposed to come without? Am I missing something?

I just called my local tire shop and they also told me programmable sensors aren't available yet for the 3is... I hope they will soon be so I can get some for my winter setup!

I have sensor that came from 1010Tires.com. ITM Uni-Sensor.

I just had them paired and they work, although sometimes I find there is no reading in the car. Odd.

Guess they have another brand or simply are not up to date... Did 1010 program them or you had to do it locally?

I have the EZ sensors for my 2014 IS winter wheels since day 1 and my tire shop only could get it work without the individual readings on the display. My tire shop uses programming tool from Bartec and I was told that the reason for not working fully is something to do with the interference between TPMS sensors and something else which is specific to 2014 IS and Bartec has been working on it. I also called Bartec directly and got the same answer.

I also have my tire shop programmed my IS as a NX or RC as the Lexus part number for NX and RC is the same as 2014 IS but they lead to same result -- i.e., TPMS works but without individual readings. So it means even if the part number for 2015 NX and RC is the same as 2014 IS, there is something else that makes the programmable sensors not working on 2014 IS.

My tire shop says programming will be soon fixed for 2014 IS this year and if not, he will replace the EZ sensors with Lexus original TPMS sensors.

I have the same sensors with the same "no read" on the display. When they do show up the psi is correct so I don't worry about them

So you just had the dealer clone the sensor IDs from the ECU into the Uni-Sensor and the car automatically recognized them?
