price out a 335 M Sport X drive then get back to us. A 328 non X drive loaded the same as a 350 FSport Navi/ML still costs MORE than the IS350

Not only the BMW engine is superior in almost every way to the Lexus (except maybe for reliability), but it's also got 36 more ponies. You should be comparing the IS250 to the 320, not the 328... Apples to apples

Here's my opinion on both cars:

Performance: BMW 335 is faster, more HP, more torque; Lexus IS350 still pretty fast

Interior: prefer the Lexus IS better; BMW too conservative; based on your personal preferences

Exterior: Lexus IS F-Sport looks way better than BMW M-Sport; Lexus turns more heads; BMW all look the same

Reliability: Lexus hands down; too many issues with BMW

Pricing: Lexus is cheaper and you still get a bunch of options; fully loaded BMW is way too much $$$

As the saying says, "You get what you pay for"

335i M sport is a simply OVERALL better car than IS350 F sport period

Not all but many are getting is350 over 335i because of the price advantage for similarly optioned

Which is pretty much a marketing strategy by Lexus to complete in this sport sedan market with other brands Who invested their times to improve their engine, lexus did nothing but literally changing outside
If i was rich enough to be careless for a couple hundred dollars a month i'd have gotten 328i m sport over is250 F sport but there is +$130 differences a month

I have tracked my M4 4 times and always push it to hear that exotic exhaust note and have zero problems
My Is250 f sport have been to the dealership 3 times with underbody rattling and airbag sensor problems and has barely 1400 miles So those who talks about lexus being reliable
Please dont just say that unless you have direct experience to reflect your opinion and i know many who had bimmer lemons and so on for lexus so i think its all about luck

I think most people say Lexus is more reliable because they rely on stats compiled by different sources like Consumer Reports. I could say the opposite : my wife's 335 has 45000km and has gone in for repairs 3 times for sensors going bad. I'm not counting regular scheduled maintenance or the infamous limp mode she encountered once...

You can't draw conclusions and generalize from a single (or even a few) experiences. Like you said, there are lemons and luck.

Agree with both of ya! There are lemons and lucky cars in all brands. In my case: Lexus vehicles have been greatly reliable to me. BMWs to my dad have been a sour lemon to him That's why he switched to Japanese

true but even the 320i has more torque and slightly better 0-60. with IS (at least for now) you only have the option of 250 / 350 while with the bimmer you can get 316 (not everywhere) / 20/28/35/M! and these are just the petrol options! so there are a lot of options to check against. the reason I mentioned 328i is simply because my friend has one and I've been smoked in drag races by it many times.

Sound systems are very subjective. I like crisp trebles in music and I think ML does that really good. I've seen BMW 5 series with optional B&O speakers. the ones where the center speaker pops out of the dashboard when you turn the stereo on. those are the best in car sound system that I have ever encountered. however you cant get them on the 3 series.

It almost seems like Lexus aims for customers who are not after maximum performance. In every category, it seems, they are slower than the German competition, and possibly slower than previous generation Lexus. And to my eyes, the cars look faster than they actually are. Seems like they are saying real performance doesn't matter.

I have driven all the current gen Lexus on track and it was generally underwhelming. RC350 F sport was the best for me but to me it lacked punch. RCF was ok compared to the ISF, but in performance felt a couple of generations behind the greats.

On the other hand, they still have the lead in hybrids, at least for now. Unless they innovate, soon they will be very strongly challenged on that front too.
