So is the permanent solution to get it tightened or adjusted?
What is the technical explanation for this and why don't all cars exhibit? Thx

Its not the cable. its the parking brake shoes rattling against the backing plate. the shoes need to be lubricated and cable adjusted.

btw, my car is a 400 miles young ISF.
dojo - it's def not a thunk. it's a clank noise. higher pitched in nature. not a clunk. happens over certain types of bumps at speed. slower speeds won't get it to "jar" enough to make the noise.
i also don't want to hear it once in a while. i want it gone.

So I never have posted on a forum but I had the same issue with my 2014 350. It was a "rattle" that almost sounded like it was coming from the gear shifter or console. Anyway it was coming from the light grey plastic trim that runs the entire distance of the console on both sides. From the ac to the seat belts. In my car I could duplicate it by pressing the plastic in a certain exact spot. Anyway, took it to the dealer and they pulled the trim pieces off and put something like felt or soundproofing so it filled the gap and the plastic couldn't move anymore. Completely rattle free now.

I'm getting a rattle that sounds like it's coming from the passenger side window area, but it's hard to say. When going over a slightly bumpy road, you can hear this very quiet rattle/clicking sound, which although not loud, is very annoying when the radio is off and windows closed because the car is so quiet otherwise. I can also hear the rattle from the impact when I close the driver door. Any ideas if this might be a common issue with an easy fix? I'm planning to take it to service soon to see if they can fix it.
