Thanks for all the information. I am going to see if I can find similar products down in the U.S.

I am surprised that you only used 2 zip ties though - I thought you would need 4 due to the four holes in the frame & guard. Maybe your 2 zip ties were extra long so that each passed through 2 holes (top to bottom)?

No. That's not the bracket that I have. I tried to look at it online too but it is not listed on the website. With te bracket that I have, two zip ties is more than enough. It does not move at all. I will try to take picture of the bracket today for you.

This is where our Lexus dealer mounts the front plates. No worries about blocking out the plate, that is no longer my plate.

As I promised, here is the close up pic with the two zip ties

Thanks a lot, IS3Fguy - that looks great, and your pic is greatly appreciated! I'm inspired to do the same with mine once I get it...

Default Front License Plate

I live in Wisconsin where 2 plates are required. I have not had a front plate on any of my cars since 1998 and have not been pulled over once. Granted the days of driving at 2:00 am are behind me but the point is, unless there's a reason, they probably will leave you alone especially if it is a car that the front plate would damage. I keep mine in the trunk just in case.

Appreciate the 'creativity' of some.
In my case, I will / have taken the chance on several cars I currently own. I'll pay the $42. ticket in NJ - chances are if I get stopped - it won't be for the plate - but surely the plate missing would be an add-on.

I can pay a few tickets before I would break-even in buying a mount and dealing with it still is not the right solution.

Those who have mounted the plate lower seems to be a nice trade-off vs. the mfg. designated location.

Share the same experience and point of view - we then don't drive like A$$h0%^& to draw attention to ourselves.

for those with grimmspeed or other tow hook plate mount kits. do they flap around at high speed or touch the bumper at all?

I think this could be the license plate bracket that you have, they just do not have a picture posted up for it.

What do you consider high speed? I've only hit around 80 mph tops and I haven't had a problem with the kit so far. Also, the kit has a tight build so there isn't a lot of room for the license plate bracket to wiggle; it would take a lot of force for the bracket to hit the bumper.

That could be it.

Using tow hook mount make it looks so off and out of balance. Don't like it at all.

Just wanted to say thank you for contributing to this thread IS3Fguy and for providing more details/pictures. That helps a ton.

I really like what you did so I may do the same in the future

I have to agree, the offset tow hook mount is just horrid IMO.
Also when you purchased the bracket did your reciept have the product number?
It's Product#37-7420-2 on the site.
