His deal is fantastic no matter how you look at it.
I wouldn't pay for a previous year model buying new just to save 3% period. To each his own, i'm sure he is enjoying the vehicle.

My sentiments exactly. I was only interested in the IS350 and there seems to be just minor updates for 2016. That being the case, I decided to go with a 2015 knowing that I could probably get a better deal.

You absolutely did the right thing - there are usually not many changes between model years in a particular generation and if you keep the car a while, there won't be much difference in book value between yours and a similarly equipped 2016.

Yeah only about $8,000 in difference in trade-in value.

Where and how did you come up with a figure like that?

Just priced out the difference between a 2011 and 2012 equipped the same - F-sport, ML, navigation.
There's about $1k difference in clean trade value.

I needed a more practical car, so I got rid of my E92 M3, and just picked up a 2016 IS200T F-Sport. Very smooth ride, although it does lack a bit of power. The turbo lag is noticeable but it's what you'd expect. not to mention the Lexus interior is much nicer compared to the BMW.

MSRP: 44674
Purchase price: 39891
Residual: 29484
Term: 12k/year, 36m, 1500 drive off
Monthly: 398

Well....you ARE on an Internet forum.

We are on our 3rd IS - the trade values I've dealt with in the transactions have been pretty consistent with the info that was available on the various vehicle value sites on line. I only wanted to point out to the poster that if he keeps his 2015 for a while (5-6 years), there's probably not gonna be much difference in the value of his car and a 2016 at that time. Even now, I'm not sure he would've had to pay $8k more to get a 2016 over the 2015, especially in markets like TX and CA.

Got a quote for a 2016 IS350 F Sport this past weekend here in SoCal. They said best they could do was this:

MSRP: 48710
Sales Price: 43839
MF: .00105
15k/36 months
CA sales tax
Down Payment: $2900 from my trade in
$454/month including tax

But if I use my $2900 to cover Fees with 2100 as MSD, my payment goes to $550

I was hoping to get close to $400- $420 with using my $2900 for total drive off including MSD. I just don't want to pay anything out of pocket. By my calculations, I thought I would be close. Oh, and they were shocked when I I asked for a starting MF around .00075 even on a 2015... My credit came up "tier 1 plus." They said there's absolutely no way they can go lower on the MF being that it's a 2016, and they're out of 2015s in the color combo I wanted. Did I miss something?

What is the residual on this deal? The payment seems a bit high with an almost $5k discount and 2900 drive off.

The payment is about right then - I think the money factor and lack of incentives is working against you. 9 MSDs of 400 each in addition to the 2900 would take the payment to about 390. Reduce the drive off to 1000 and add 9 MSDs of 450 each to keep the payment at a little less than 450.

Depends on the dealership and sales person, initially I asked about an is200t, first dealership said no discounts at all until end of the year, even with me being a previous customer, second dealership took 10% just by me asking on a 200t or 350.

Guess I'll have to wait to get some year end incentives and/or better mf.
