I am keeping my fingers crossed that the IS200t will be available with a 6MT since proper modulation of the throttle and clutch while controlling the engine speed will help negate some of the turbo lag or slow throttle tip-in that some of you are mentioning about the NX. My previous car was a Subarul Legacy GT Spec.B and even stock with 250 hp/ft-lbs, the 2.5 H-4 turbo felt much quicker than my previous Legacy GT with an auto transmission.
As much as I enjoy my Is350, I would trade it in for an IS200t 6MT in a heartbeat and after replacing the downpipe and cat and reflashing the ECU (this only cost me about $1K when I did it to my Subie) it would easily be faster than a stock Is350 witha better torque and power curve.

downpipe + high flow cat + exhaust + intake combo will add at least 40-50 hp/tq on a 4cyl turbo engine. that would put the 200T in the 280ish range with over 300TQ. Even if tuners are not able to crack the ECU code for a tune, I think the IS200T could easily be quicker and faster than the 350 with about $2K in simple bolt ons. That simple 4 piece combo turned my Supra Turbo (232hp / 254 TQ), which btw is almost identical to what the 200T will come stock with..... anyway that combo turned my Supra from "really nice and strong" to angry monstrous beast. Feels like at least 300hp now. No boost controller. No added electronics of any kind.

Just did a quick search and most of the prices I am seeing for an IS 350 exhaust fall between $700-$1200. A high quality stainless mesh high flow cat is gonna be $200-$300. Then a downpipe will be probably $400. Intake maybe $200 on the high end?
That's puts everything at somewhere between $1500 on the low end to $2100 on the high end.
Installation all at once shouldn't be more than a couple hundred bucks if you pay a shop. If you do it yourself then free. These will be bolt ons.

Not sure if you're talking about importing from Japan or what

I have a strange feeling that the new turbo motor going into the lower model IS will dissapoint to some degree. Everyone obsessing on the forum about the increased power numbers versus the current gen 250 and being able to compete against the Germans. Mark my words, the car will not accelerate and feel like a lot of people think it will.
Displacement loss (no V6), different gearing and Torque curve might make the car FEEL slower at some acceleration times versus the current gen 250.
May be faster on paper and more efficient gas wise, but something is telling me it will dissapoint to some degree. Let's all hold our reviews until the motor actually gets into the car and enjoy the current powertrain!
Ok rant over

I think what gets people excited is the opportunity to be able to build on a turbo car, the capacity to add a larger turbo, add fuel, headers etc. It will make the car a good base, even if the factory model is underpowered.

You know how the saying goes. You get what you pay for. I bet the fit and finish on that $700 exhaust is subpar with crappy welds and thin walled piping. That exhaust looks like that garbage them Civic boys put on their car because they can't afford to spring for a more quality exhaust that's done the right way.

I'm not happy about the thought of a 4 banger either. Mainly because Lexus has not shown they will tune it to max performance, at least they haven't before now.
Even the mighty LFA was not tune to its maximum ability. Nor is the RC F.
Lets hope they give it a good sound and enough performance to make the IS250 relevant.

And you can put your opinion all you want but I don't see anything in your opinion about the $700 exhaust that I wouldn't label as full on supposition. All of these are made from stainless steel and mandrel bent for maximum flow. I am fully aware that not all exhausts are created equal but the three examples I posted appear to be nicely constructed.
Pretty much I'm bored with this exchange so I'm out. Feel free to buy whatever you want for your cars and I will do the same. Laters.

I think those are all decent. I actually haven't heard of any mounting issues except for the ARK exhaust. Quality or not, what do you get out of the system? 10+HP? Any of those will provide those numbers +/-. Sound? Subjective. If I were to buy a cat-back exhaust, it'd be for the sound, then the looks, then the gain.
