Default My 5 Month Old Rear Ended!!

So I was driving towards an intersection and then I hear a fire engine siren that was getting louder. Logically when you hear the sound you would slow down and so I did and then I was able to see the fire engine approaching so I slowed to a stop. A split second later...BANG!! The idiot behind me paid no mind to the sirens nor my brake lights flashing red that I stopped and rear ended me. He must've been traveling pretty fast because his air bags deployed and windshield was cracked. Now I can't even close my trunk...

I'm just glad my baby boy was not in the rear seat when it happened

damn that sucks! but it doesn't look to bad in the pics. worse comes to worse, new bumper and trunk lid. doesn't look like there's any frame damage. the dummy behind you got it worse...and plus one for no baby in the back!!! hope you're okay as well.

Damage doesnt look too bad.
At least you are okay.

was the childseat in the car?
Thats what the insurance company will probably ask you and they'll probably pay you out to to buy new one because its integrity is compromised in their sense.

The damage isn't as bad as mine but all of the same parts are damaged. You might have escaped some frame damage. My repair was just under $10k.

Don't forget to demand a diminished value claim. You can do this AFTER it is repaired. My diminished value appraisal came in at around $6k, they offered me $3k and we are now headed to court to settle it. My guess is they'll offer you $2k since your damage is more minor. But you don't get it if you don't ask for it!

It doesn't look as bad. Glad that you're ok and that baby was not aboard! Hopefully you can get it professionally fixed soon!

thanks for the concern you guys.

@ azmojo: do you still look at your is350 the same after the collision?

my car is a lease so after this hit i don't think i would be purchasing afterwards. i was hoping for frame damage so i can have an excuse to jump to an RC-F...guess i have to wait 3 more years until my lease up

No. I still see little problems with it. Minor flaws that most people probably wouldn't care about but I am too hyper-vigilant to ignore or forget about. I have sold it and ordered a new one.

Frame damage can show up much later, besides some shock in your drivetrain which depends on the selected gear you were in when hit from behind (the car moves forward in such a case and "wants" to force the drivetrain to do the same).

I believe it...I was just saying from the pic, it didn't look to bad.

Damage isn't nearly as bad as mine was, my repair totals amounted to $20,000.

Still sucks, I feel your pain.

It does't look bad at first but I am nearly 100% sure there is frame damage. The only way to tell is once you pull the bumper off and see.
