Question Radar detector setup??

Hello everyone, has anyone of you equipped radar detector with our 3is? If so, how did you mount it? any pictures? I am thinking about getting Valentine One for my 3is here, but just need some advice on how to mount it in the cleanest way.

I was thinking about buying a rearview mirror mount and hardwiring it to the home link or moonroof wires.

Problem is that I've noticed our police started using laser.. As we all know, when the laser detector goes off, it's already too late.

i don't hav a 3IS but i got a 2IS and I got a Escort Passport 9500ix mounted high just below the mirror so it can detect front and anything behind me... i think u can hard wire it to a power source so u don't hav to hav a stupid cable hanging around...

This question might be dum, but can't those top of line radar detectors detect laser as well?

Any instruction on how on how to hardwiring it? I never buy a radar detector before, so if police pulls you over, and sees your hardwired radar detector, are you going to get a ticket on that?

I know that in Wisconsin, radar detector is legal, but I was wondering if the cop sees that and he/she may assume that I am a frequent speeder since I have a radar detector, sometimes you can BS to get away with ticket, but if he/she sees radar detector, then your BS may not work anymore.

They will run your plate/license to see if you're a constant speeder. The radar detector is legal in your state so the cop can't do anything about that. In fact, he might feel good about himself because he caught you despite your detector.

Since the 12V is inside console how do you guys connect to the 12V slot, just close the console lid on the wire?

In my gs I just bought a hard wire kit and rand the wire along the headliner at the windshield, down the a pillar to the fuse box and tapped in there, took me 5 minutes

You would have to pry open the overhead console to tap into the wiring. Tapping into the home link, interior lights, or moonroof wiring is the cleanest install IMO.

Many people run the wire through the headliner, past the A pillar, and into the fuse box. This is easier and less scary.
