I know this might be a no-brainer question, but would you spend $600-$750 to clear bra a LEASED 3IS?

I know it might be a no-brainer since its a lease, but there may be some who care about the look during a lease

Since i'm new to Lexus, how is the paint quality on Lexus? Chip easily? The color will be Ultra White.

Curious to know as well.. how much do 30k/60k/90k services cost on an IS usually from the dealer??

Absolutely NOT!

Spend that 600-750 dollars on some high quality detailing supplies.

First step, either Opticoat, or Cquartz.

Next, get MF towels, clay, buffer, polish. You can get sealant or wax if you like.(Not really needed if you are going with opticoat or cquartz, but will add additional protection and shine)

That would be the best investment and experience you can gain from your lease.

No experience with these products but I assume opticoat and cquartz does not protect from rockchips?

Agreed but it's a long term rental. You have the car for 2-3 years not 2-3 weeks, so still want to keep it looking nice :-)

Maybe not a clear bra, but nothing wrong with keeping it nice.

I did. Spent 650 and I lease it. I got 3 rock chips in less than 2000 miles so the bra went on. What if I end up buying it in the end? Then it would be too late since it would be all chipped up. These cars chip way to easy.

You don't need to ask for others opinions. Its your car and your money. Spend it how you want.


650$ on a 3 year lease is only 60 cents a day by the way.

Also.... people might hate on a lease but a lease is just paying off the depreciation. Even if you BUY the car you are still going to take the depreciation hit like a lease.

I don't think people are hating on a lease. It really depends on the situation. You can get a great deal on leases and purchases.

Especially with the tech these days, new changes happen very often and that's the main reason for me wanting to lease.

This would be my first lease so I wanted to get full details and opinions on buy vs lease

for 3 years? there are a lot more better ways to keep the car nice than over 600 bucks on opticoat or so. all i say is imho those are overkill still

granted, lexus paint is on the soft side so if you want nice, you want to polish and put wax on on a regular basis. the m3 i leased? i never waxed the car and the day i returned the car it still looked pretty clean and shiny.

Opticoat/cquartz at most cost 60 dollars. It's not necessary to spend any more money on any detailing supplies after applying either of those coats.

Detailing is a good side thing to pick up if you like cars, and plan to keep your own in good shape. The products purchased can be used on numerous vehicles, not just limited to his 'lease'.

I'm just stating a secondary option the op may consider, which is a cheaper alternative than installing a clear bra.

All in all, I wouldn't spend a dime on a lease

I always put a clear bra on my leased IS's, I just can't stand rock chips and don't want to look at them for 3 years, but that's just me. Plus I live in FL where two times a year I deal with love bug hell, this takes some of the pressure off having to wash them off every day, because they won't damage the clear bra.
