On that matter, quick question. Probably a question that has been asked and answered many times. today I hit around 6000 RPMs while accelerating from 15 to 60 miles. The odometer turned red. I know that the redline is at 7000 RPM, but what are the long term consequences of hitting high RPMs? I definitely do not want to baby the car, but I do not want to be too harsh as well.
I wouldn't worry about it. I have had that happen numerous times -- it's more a warning that you're about to redline imo.

The tach turning red is more eye candy than anything, you can change the RPM that it turns red in the settings, I think as low as 3000.

Guys don't turn this into another 2is vs 3is battle (posts removed). If you have an issue with another members posts use the report a post feature so the moderators can review rather than a running public callout which extends and exacerbates the conflict.

Glashub, please exit this thread. Let's get this thread back on topic please.

I haven't been able to change the rev color limit on 3IS. Is there even a way to do it? It looks like we cannot change the factory setting which turns red around 5-6k.

Do you want to change the color or the limit? I was able to change it from the default limit to sonething a little lower during the break in period. After, it goes up to redline .

Why Sport and not Sport+ in runs 3 and 4? Shouldn't make a difference but just curious.

The track didn't give you 0-60 times as well? Ones I been to provided that with the 1/4 mile times.

I was able to break the 14 second barrier (barely), but not the 100 mph barrier (though again, only by .03 mph).

This is only the 2nd time I've taken a car to the track. Just curious what she could do. Fitted with Takada intake.
Just letting you know, don't worry about shifting at all. Just mash the gas and the car will shift for you automatically just before redline. Yes, even in "M" and using paddle shifters. The car will not hit rev limiter, I've tried this multiple times. Should help you with up shifting too early.

Not sure if it's been answered already, but why does the AWD have a 6spd and the RWD have an 8spd trans?

Lexus states there isn't room to fit both the AWD gear and the longer 8 speed transmission together.

In the F-Sport guage, go into the settings menu. Drill down through the choices, almost all the way down you'll see "Rev Indicator". Click on that one and you can set the RPM between 2000 and 6600, that will determine when the red ring appears around the tach. It's on page 89 of the manual.

A question for the 1/4 milers, a 1/2 a second difference is equal to around how many car lengths if both cars are doing around 100 mph at the end of a 1/4 mile drag race. Just curious. Thanks

I knew about the auto shift even while in manual mode. Shifted manually though to keep the RPMs in a best HP/Torque. I didn't want the engine to rev all the way up or the shift would result in lost RPMs in the higher HP/torque range (at least from what I could tell from driving my car to be the RPM range where you have the most HP/torque).

Also who necroed my post, this is old lol
