So I'm in the middle of a really lame predicament. A rock cracked my windshield and needed to be replaced... I get it replaced and there's no 3" shade strip at the top of my windshield. So now time to walk back into the shop. "Hey dude, the replacement... it doesn't have the tint at the very top of the windshield..." "...Oh your car didn't have that." "...uhhhh, yeah, it did" "...No it didn't they dont have that." We then proceeded to have an inane back and forth for the next 3 minutes. We even did the walk out to the dumpster and sure enough, we cant find my old window.

He asked if my car was used when I bought it. Me being honest I say yes, and of course he replies, "Well... They didn't come stock." Christ, so now its a legitimate pissing contest and I have no idea how to resolve it... I guess im seeking consultation from you folks for my own sanity and if there'd be an easy way to prove it? I figure that there very well could be since I imagine that in the 10 years since the car was originally manufactured that this dispute has come up at some point in the past. My car is a California car if that might make any difference... I have no clue.

My 06 is350 doesn't have any, I just bought it and was gonna get tint done soon. However, I've seen people get complimentary tint done by the dealership so maybe it didnt come with the stock car but was added by the dealership before you purchased it. Not sure if it's worth the fuss, local tint place quoted me 20 bucks for the visor but ultimately that's up to you

My 08 didn't have it either, the replacement does (though it's a Pilkington windshield, not a Lexus one).

The stock 2IS windshield does NOT have a shade strip at the top!

None of the factory windshields had the shade. Some aftermarket glass may have it, but the car didn't come that way.
