Default Your advice on used 2006 IS250

Hi guys

I am a new member on this forum. Lexus was always my dream car and recently I've decide to buy one.
This is a reason why I'm posting here ....... I would like to know an opinion of more experienced lexus users if the lexus IS 250 2006 that I am considering to buy is a good deal

link:
https://www.autoscout24.com/offers/l...92b?cldtidx=16

I would like to know your opinion on this car. isn't the milage too much for such a car ? is the manual transmison reliable ? what are your experiencies with this car ?
Maybe it helps maybe not but the price 8700 EUR is equal to 9150 USD

Thank you for the replies and Have a good one
Hopefully a new satisfied user of lexus

Lukas

Only thing to be concerned with is carbon build up. With it being out of warranty, its an expensive fix.

Another issue is cam gear wear - rattling from engine on startup for about 5 seconds. Not covered by any warranty enhancement on the IS250 and expensive to repair ($2500). Given this and the carbon buildup issue, I'd probably look elsewhere.

yeah carbon buildup is one of the main problems. make sure seller took care of is250. if he has any documentation for service at dealership that is always a plus.
my cylinder misfires from carbon buildup started around 120,000 miles. and it wouldnt misfire on a daily. it would misfire maybe once a month.

i see it has navigation, thats a plus.
see if they changed out the interior door panel and dash trim. kinda hard to tell from the pics posted. but if it is changed out less hassle to deal with on your end. (it is free from lexus, but waiting for new panels to come in takes for ever. i think i was waiting for 11 months until i just traded it in for an F)

I would be hesitant. The vehicle is 10 years old and has 195000 kilometers/ 120000 miles. Without a service history and a good inspection you could be in for an expensive surprise. Worst case scenario you will need an new engine rebuild or engine (5000 USD). I would pass on this vehicle and look for something else unless you are prepared to deal with the many known issues these IS250's have.

Maybe continue to save and look for a Newer IS350 and avoid the IS250 all together. Why make a rainy day for yourself where what seems like a good deal ends up costing you more than the car is worth.

I don't think the IS350 was sold in Europe. The other choice on that side of the pond was the diesel.

Thank you all of you gyus for the advices and opinions ... As I said I will consider all your suggestions while I will dealing with the seller.

Bichon you are right .. in Europe is not IS350 option but we've got the IS 300 instead and then of course diesel one

Dont worry about the milage unless its over 160k, but my friend had his Lexus is250 till 264k and no "BIG" issues. Dont let people scare you as your better off with a Toyota engine then a German engine "cost" wise. Im at 105k and all i have done is change alternator and water pump (had it since 60k). nothing too major or expensive. Plus yours is a manual, those are hard to come buy, which Boosts the cars value.

yes, and like with every car you buy, take it in to your local lexus dealer or Toyota dealer to get it inspected. That will put you more at ease. Especially since dealers are sketchy and will lie their way into selling a car.
