2010 IS250 manual trans difference, RA60 6th gear fit?
Hi, new member and a new IS owner.. Glad to find this site! Hoping you guys can help me with some info. I am about to a manual transmission swap on a IS350. I see that the interchange shows 2006 to 2009, then 2010 up to be different. I have not been able to find the exact difference. One person that should know said the 2010 had better ratios, but could not tell me what the 2010 ratios were, nor have I been able to find different ratios anywhere.
Does anybody know if the 2010 ratios are different an if so what they are? Also, SECOND question.. Has anybody successfully swapped the tacoma RA60 .849 6th gear in the IS manual trans?
This will be a race car. With the current gearing we will likely only use 2-5.
Thank you!

Gear ratios are the same 2006-2012.
I'm not aware of anyone that has swapped a 6th gear in an RA6x. Countershaft gear teeth are machined into the shaft and not pressed on, so the 6th counter gear is not replaceable individually. I don't think it would be possible to swap 6th gear.

They made various improvements to the RA62 in the IS250. There are 5 versions I am aware of:
33030-53130 - Initial RA62 for 06 models, used until May, 2006 production. (Replaced by 33030-53190)
33030-53190 - Updated RA62 for 06-08 models, used from May, 2006 production, updated countershaft, changed gear oil specification from GL-4 or 5 to GL-5 only, possibly synchro changes (from what I've heard, no P/N changes). (Replaced by 33030-53310)
33030-53310 - Updated RA62 for 06-08 models, never installed at the factory, change-up after production. Not sure on differences between this and 53190.
33030-53270 - Updated RA62 for 09-12 models, includes updated front input shaft retainer, counter-weights on the shifter mechanism.
33030-53370 - TSB RA62 for 06-12 models, includes all updates from 53270, plus additional changes (unknown), to be used with new sprung clutch disc 31250-33032. Updated clutch disc and transmission dealer-installed only, never installed at the factory. Factory 2012 cars still coming with 33030-53270 transmission and 31250-53050 unsprung clutch disc.

Great info
Jeff, man thanks again for great info. With those changes I'm just going to pull the trigger on a lower mileage job flood trans that I can get shifter/clutch fork with. I plan to avoid the dmf altogether and start with solid flywheel/performance clutch so oem sprung not an issue.
thanks again. Always reassuring when info comes with part and tsb numbers!
Don't suppose you know of an equally informative is350 manual swap thread? I've found one guy in Australia and he says electronics aren't a big deal with manual swap, just dummy it up so it thinks it's in neutral. Seems awfully easy and I'm a bit skeptical.

If you do end up doing a solid flywheel/performance clutch I look forward to your results. I am working on something of my own to upgrade my current setup, but it's all in the design stage at this point. If something off the shelf works well I would potentially consider it. Excluding the SPEC or Fidanza aluminum options, I don't think I would be interested in running an aluminum flywheel for my car.
