Dealer says I have bad gas 2nd time in 1 month
I bought my 2012 IS 250 in August. Since then it has been in the shop 4 times, in total a little over 1 month. Originally my car was hesitating from a dead stop and I almost got into an accident at an intersection because I was stuck in the middle of the road for about 5 seconds. I took it to the dealer and they said they couldn't find anything. I made them take it for an extended test drive, and again, nothing. A week later they dashboard lit up and the car wouldn't move. This time they said the car had carbon build up and they needed to replace the short block. I bought it CPO and have everything covered for two years, so I have not paid for anything. Everything seemed to run fine for a month, but the hesitation returned while driving at low speeds. Brought it in again and they claimed it was bad gas....drained it and filled it with premium. Everything seemed fine again. Last week...it starts again. It has been in the shop for about ten days and they are claiming it is bad gas again...drained it and drove it 100 miles and tested it again. They want me to come pick it up today. I am very skeptical since I only put in Shell Premium and have never had bad gas before this experience. Looking for suggestions because I don't not know that much about cars and I want to talk to the GM and team leader but need some advice on what to say. Help!!

During this incident with stalling or hesitation did you have a code come up (Check Engine Light).
There are so many things that can cause an issue like this. It will require a systematic approach to trouble shoot. Without a code this will be difficult.
It could be anything from a MAF Sensor malfunctioning to the fuel system. Whether the fuel pump, fuel injector pressure regulator and even the fuel injectors are acting up. Your throttle body may be filthy or when they reassembled your engine they may have damaged a wire somewhere to a sensor or ECU. It still may be a bad gas issue. Stop getting fuel where you always fill up and try another station as a test. I like using Costco since they have fuel deliveries every day so it insures good fresh gas. Try putting some Berrymans or Seafoam fuel system cleaner into your tank.
Because the problem is intermittent and if it doesn't give you a code then you may have to drive until complete failure to isolate the problem.
If you find out the problem please post a solution here so it will help others if they experience the same issue.

Are you getting gas from the same station? Does it have a car wash on the property? I try to avoid fueling up from stations like this due to the potential of water getting into the tanks.
