Just bought the car from private party and now Im thinking the previous owner cleared any codes because it none were on when I bought it. Drove it for a few days and it threw the 2 codes. Ive done a lot of research and have come up with 2 things. Either I need a new tranny or I can possibly try having the PCM reflashed. Obviously reflashing the pcm is the easiest. Has anybody had success with this. Also, the previous owner replaced all the solenoids to the tune of $1300 along with fluid change. Im also thinking the transmission could be possibly over filled with transmission fluid. When I warmed up the car and then checked the overfill plug lots of fluid came out where I thought only a small amount would. I did not get the fluid to the recommended temp though. If there was too much fluid would it cause the transmission codes?

While the car is cold, check the overflow. If it is pouring out it may have to much fluid in it.
The only way to be sure I suppose is find a Toyota or Lexus shop that can do a fluid flush and make sure you have the correct amount in there.
Reflash might fix it also. If the Transmission were shot I would think you would feel it while driving it. If you new he replaced all the solenoids it should have thrown up some red flags.
Anyway if it turns out you need a new tranny, check some of the wreckers. You can probably find a decent one for a few hundred bucks.

I bought an infrared scanner so I can see the exact temp of the fluid when I drain some from the pan.
I thought that having the tranny serviced and having all the solenoids replaced was just maintenance but obviously I was wrong.
I think the tranny has too much fluid in it so I will bring it to the proper level. Im HOPING that maybe too much fluid can cause this issue but we will see.
