Default Headlights '08 IS250

Hello,

I have a 2008 IS250 that needs a new headlight bulb replacement for driving at night. They are HID bulbs and the dealerships are trying to charge me about $250 each (not including labor). I was looking online so I could buy the part myself and have them replace it and found bulbs ranging from ~ $15 - 100. Before I buy I wanted to be sure that I'm getting the right bulb for my car. Could someone please advise me with the relevant information to buy them myself? The dealerships wouldn't give me any more information other than the product number 9098120024. I've seen a lot of codes I don't fully understand, but the ones that keep coming up are D4S and 9006. I'm guessing this has to do with the compatibility, but again I'm not sure which I need.

This seems to be the right one:

But why not these:

Thanks in advance!

Yes you have the right information - Stock HID's use a D4S bulb

The 9006 bulb is your fog light bulb

Did you ever end up ordering the D4S bulb and changing it? I am in the same situation and was wondering whether I should be changing both bulbs at once or if they are the exact same brightness and color. Don't feel like going through the dealership.

I would appreciate any feedback on this.
Thanks guys!

You should replaced both at the same time. Even though they may be the same color and brightness, the new and old bulb may not match 100% with HIDs.

I bought my current HID bulbs from Xenon Depot and haven't had any problems. Going on 2+ years on them. Installation was easy.

+1. If they're you original bulbs, color and brightness will not match a new bulb. HIDs shift to a bluer temperature as they age, and lose lumens as well. An old 4300k bulb will shift to around 5000k over its lifespan. Reputable aftermarket D4S bulbs can be had from around $60 from TheRetrofitSource. IMO, I'd pay some more for OEM bulbs (Philips or Osram/Sylvania) but I'd find reputable sellers who actually sell real bulbs (XenonDepot and TheRetrofitSource are the two immediately off the top of my head) as eBay/Amazon is a bit of a gamble regarding OEM bulbs.

Default Bulb type for non OEM headlight

Hello,
I'm new to this forum and I've only had my 08 is250 for about 6 months. I like the car but I've had a lot of problems with the car. It had the headlights changed over to non OEM HID. Would these still use ds4 bulbs?

Aftermarket headlight assembly like that probably uses a H7 halogen bulb unless it was converted to HID bulb with ballast, if it was, the base is still a H7 variety.
hope it helps

Those headlights are the VIP MOTO Z. Here's their info on the bulb sizes.
