Dash Cam Wiring location
Hi guys, I just got a WheelWitness HD PRO Dash Cam with GPS, I just want to know what is the best location to wire it up. I see on the forum that people do it at the fuse box, behind the rear view mirror, and directly to the battery. Which is the best way and if there is a lick to a DYI please send it.

It's really down to personal preference. Some splice into the sunroof wiring, some splice into the mirror, and some the fuse box. I believe if you go the mirror route, you can only get switched power (only turns on when the car's on) if that's important to you. I was going to go the mirror route for my valentine 1, but the cheap mirrortap kit I got off Amazon broke, and I'm not keen on the idea of running the cable down the A pillar to the fuse box for the direct wire kit.

I would advise against splicing into the mirror as it is pretty tight and I am not big on hacking into the factory wiring. It's quite simple to run the wire down to the fuse box and then use a fuse splitter with a separate fuse.

Agreed, I went this route and it was very easy

I wanted to use the overhead but there is too much cable to hide. I think the FR P/SEAT LH is for the electrical seat. That one seems to be on always on but is that fuse too big to use? 30A for dashcam

Thank you guys for all the info, I think I am going to go the fuse box way. Which fuse kit do you guys recommend? Also, which fuse should i tap into to keep the dash cam on all the time? are there any DIY?

I believe one of the wires in the overhead console is a constant power source, that would be easier than running wires down trying to find a constant 12v source. I'd be a bit wary of parking mode though, depending on the dash cam, some will auto shutoff if it begins to detect a lower voltage coming from the battery while most others will probably not and will require something like this to shut it off once voltage gets too low
Use a voltmeter to test the fuse panel for which are always on and use a fuse splitter with a separate fuse for your dash cam.
