2nd gen Lexus IS250 Manual to Auto?
Hello everyone.
My name is Shoh.
I have been on here a lot and used many of your help before but never logged in here.
So I owned a 2006 Lexus IS250 manual now for almost 2 years, as known these manual set ups are not very friendly at most cases and mine is one of them.
My Clutch is shot and my transmission synchronizers are starting to fail one by one, which is in simple words-quite a penny to repair at this point. (was too excited I found a manual one I got it without researching enough...)
I like the car, waiting on my new interior from the dealer after recall so I do want to keep it, but looking for a cheaper way to get the car running without clunks.
Which brings up the main point: Anybody swapped an auto into manual IS? How complicated the process? Would it be cheaper to find a 350 assembly and replace the engine as well?
Not too savvy with cars but try to research when I need to. Kind of tired of manual anyways I live in Houston so traffic is not manual friendly for me anymore.
Thanks everyone in advance, I did not see anybody tried this conversion so figured I would start a post.

The centre part on the manual is completely different to the AT (AT is flat for the shifter mechanism and MT has an elevation since the shifter is on the gearbox itself). If you want to swap the AT gearbox in you'll need to shave off that elevated part, lay a custom flat piece and drill some holes to get everything to work. Probably better off just forking out the $$$ and get everything refurbished (or purchase a new car).

You need to find a FSport quick shifter. Without it, the car SUCKS. The problem is, I got what was the 2nd to last one in the states, and it's not cheap.
I remember there was ONE left in the US, but can't remember the dealership I called. It's one of the Lexus dealerships in NYC.
It'll run you 3-400, but it's worth every penny. I was going to sell my IS before I took the leap and bought one. It's fixed all issues I've had with the manual tranny in the IS

Rare occurrence here that is for sure. Nothing at all wrong with that though. If I were you, get that clutch fixed and then sell the car. It will sell for slightly higher than an auto IS250 and then get an auto IS350 if you still want an auto IS. Not only is the 350 much faster, you'll get similar fuel economy too.

Dang You guys are quick lol
Thank you for all responses. Im pretty far upside down on the car so cant sell till end of next year to just get even on the total.
If I want to fix it all where would you guys suggest I should go? I move a lot so dont have any friends or garage buddies, so not really sure what would be a place to go, I live in North Houston, Aamco is an option? alltho I know places like that will charge me for every dime I have.
Also I know these cars have dual plate flywheels? and I they are pricey? is it a better option to just go with a conversions and settle with a single plate? I read that shifting might be tougher on them, but nothing can be tougher than fighting your leaver into the gear in traffic so Im sure its not terrible.
Just want to get a plan going so I can start looking for clutches and collecting parts soon.
Thank you for your help once again guys.
