Default Steering ECU Calibration - Going Back to Stock from upgraded ISF

Hi Guys,

Hoping I can get some help here. I have the ISF Steering ECU installed in my 06 is350. The ISF ECU was calibrated by Lexus after I installed it. If i remove the ISF ecu and reinstall the OEM ECU that came with my car, will I need to recalibrate the OEM ECU?

Any insight or advice would be great!

Thanks!

Does anyone know? Because the original was calibrated would it need to be done again?

I think you are ok to install the old one without recalibration. But others may know for sure.

I guess I may just have to try it out and see what happens. No one can confirm?

Based on what I've read on the 2IS and IS-F Steering ECU upgrade threads, I'm under the impression that the only Steering ECUs that need to be calibrated are the ones that are purchased brand new and have never been installed in a vehicle. If a Steering ECU was previously used on a Lexus vehicle, it shouldn't require another calibration process.

Yeah, I think you'll have to be a guinea pig and prove/disprove this theory.

I don't know for sure. Shouldn't be difficult to do though. It isn't that much time to remove and install the steering ecu. When I tried calibrating my IS-F ecu, at first it didn't work, so I put the old ecu back in for a while. I had no problems with that. I don't see why a successful calibration of the new ecu would require a recalibration of the old ecu.
