2010 Lexus IS 250 - Air Bag Light
Hi All,
I am new here. I am a current 2010 Lexus IS 250 owner. I have had the car since the summer of 2012 when I purchased it with just 14K miles. It currently has 54,200 miles.
Earlier this year, I made my the service writer at the dealership aware that the airbag light it stays on.
Their feedback was that they found the fault to be in my seat and quoted three hours to diagnose and fix. However, they can not guarantee that the problem will be resolved within the 3-hours of labor. So they would at that point let me know and will update their estimate.
Any guidance you can give me is greatly appreciated.

- Does this sound correct?
- Has anyone experienced this problem with their 2010 IS250?
Any guidance you can give me is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a faulty sensor to me. If you can find a mechanic you trust, I'd start using them instead of the dealerships. A lot of simple problems have been blown out of proportion by the dealerships in my personal experience.

Thank you CharonRega.
You're not the first person that suggests this to me. I will ask my friends about a trust worthy mechanic in my area.
I appreciate your response.

i would agree, try to avoid the dealership if you can, they will do excessive time/labor and charge more typically. i remember this being an issue i had in my old IS... i just did a quick search and maybe this will help you.. good luck

Thank you MAizz!
Need to determine my next steps as the dealership is eager to charge me for three hours of labor to fix a problem that is covered under warranty. Lucky for me, I am only at 54,200k miles.

I'd start with a PHOTO copy of the warranty and go the top manager first. If that doesn't work then either try another dealer or find a good attorney and have the attorney contact them. Other option is if you have a tv news reporter that loves to deal with car dealer stealers.
Never ever trust anyone with an important paper they can take it and destroy it, I came real close to that happening one time. Always show a copy to them not the original.

Hi dice - I will be looking up the warranty today and will print it.
Hi The350Girl - I can't say I am, however, I will ask my brother-in-law to give it a try.
Thank you both for your feedback.
