Hey guys,

new to the IS250 forum, just moved over from the ES series, so will be hanging out here for a bit.

So I decided to buy some peel-coat and turn the silver logos to black.

I think it complements the car so much better than the silver logos. Took me about 2 hours for all of the logos to get done, nice and easy which makes it look a little nicer !

nicely done. When you say peel coat, is that the same as what we call Plastidip? Or is it something special that Aussie has?

Rustoleum brand I believe but essentially the same product. I believe peel coat comes out a touch glossier than the matte plastidip

Nice. I feel like lighter colored IS's pull off the black emblem look better than dark ones

Used Rustoleom before and was not impressed at all. Ended up removing and painting it.

Did you take the emblem off to paint it or did you leave it on the trunk and mask it off with tape?

I want to do this to my rear emblem too but want to know the best way.

Tape off a square or rectangle around the emblem and spray the plasti dip right onto your car/ emblem. You can peel it off after - I used the same process for my front grill

Dipped the whole thing and the peeled the emblem and grill surround after. Make sure you spray from all directions to get into the tight areas. The plasti dip should break where you want it to if done properly.

IMO this is easier then removing the emblems and putting them back on.

I chose to remove the emblem. This was because in order to paint you have to sand. If going the plastidip route, I would still remove the emblem.
You just painters tape the perimeter of the emblems, Use a fishing line and the emblems come right off. the gunk, the 3m tape residue requires some manual labor but there this thing they sell on amazon where its like a residue eraser. Hooks right on to a power drill and removes the left over residue with ease.

Then when its removed. you can spray it however you like with out tediously cleaning up your over spray if you did not remove. You can also spray at better angles which will secure the paint / dip.
