Default Growling/Bubbling Noise from under car/Exhaust

Noise is most prevalent when idling. Seems to do away when accelerating and then comes after a few seconds after idling. Completely stumped. Noise is most prevalent underneath driver's side.

Definitely sounds like an exhaust leak. Not too surprising if you live up in northern IL and drive the car during the winter and never wash off the salt.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I agree that exhaust leak sounds likely. I wasn't able to easily identify from where but taking to exhaust place on Tuesday to have it looked it. Will post update!

From my reading, I see alot of posts from people finding a hole developing around the "Y" under the factory exhaust heat shielding...where the two pipes meet together.

Gville350 is right, exhaust leak under the Y pipe heat shield is a common problem that fits your noise. I'm surprised you haven't been experiencing a check engine light with codes P0420 or P0430 though.

Yes, also surprised no engine light. I checked OBDII to see if there were any pending codes and nothing.

I just had muffler shop look at it and they said it is indeed a leak after the cat in both pipes where the clamp for the heat shielding is. Likely a result of the salt on the roads from all those years in Chicago. Thankfully down in FL now so should be good after the fix.

They quoted me $185 to fix both pipes.
