Default Exhaust leak on 2008 IS250 AWD

Hello CL members,
The check engine / VSC light came on, OBD2 gave me the code P0430. I looked at the exhaust system and found a leak on one of the pipe (on the driver side, see images). The hole is hidden inside the heat cover metal (near the clamp point), but I can feel the air come out with my hand. Can anyone tell me what the pipe name and part number if possible? Any suggestion to fix this issue? Thanks!

Looks like it might be your main exhaust pipe between headers and catalytic converter as it is close to the o2 sensor.. Not sure if you can get that metal cover off.. but if the leak is small you could always use muffler cement.. I would take it to a local muffler/ exhaust shop and have it looked at..

The OEM part includes both the pipes and cats -- they don't sell the pipes alone, so it's an expensive (albeit most durable) solution. I'd take it to a competent exhaust shop with a welder and repair it for a fraction of that cost.

A local shop cut the pipe, welded a new pipe from the clamp point all the way to the catalyst converter for $150 include tax.

Looks like they did a nice job -- much better than just welding over the holes. A dealer repair of this problem would have been $2,000, as many here can attest.

The dealership I go to won't even touch exhaust systems.. they just send it to local muffler/ exhaust shop anyway..

My most recent tune up they told me my one pipe is getting weak and will need replacing soon - told me to take it to a muffler shop because thats what they would do

Would this park from Rockauto work?

If this part works, i wonder if its better to just replace the whole section of that pipe instead of of a welding job?

I think I have the same problem.. did your engine code clear after you fixed the exhaust?

I had the same issue and the opposite side was also starting to leak. Definitely watch other side if they didn't replace both

Smile Just Fixed Multiple Exhaust Leaks on my Lexus GS

I recorded a video tutorial of all the steps I took to diagnose and ultimately get my exhaust leaks fixed on my 2006 Lexus GS300. This procedure will be similar for most cars.

Enjoy!
