Rear Bumper Hit While Parked
Good morning, I own a 2010 Lexus IS250 Hyrid 4DSD. Walked to car to discover my car was hit. Not major damage but visible; paint damage, rear bumper and reflector were cracked, clips seem to be snapped half way. I push it back in, drive off, bumper pops out again. Will whole bumper need to be replaced? Should I take to a reputable Auto Body Shop or should i take to dealership? My deductible is $1000, damage will not exceed that. I will have to come out of pocket.

I would definitely take it to a body shop to get them to look at it.

I think the repair price is going to be more than you think. Take the car to a bodyshop and get an estimate. If you prefer Lexus parts to be used, talk to them about it. Most body shops use aftermarket parts.

I agree with the previous posters. Unless yours is one of the few dealerships with their own body shop, they'll likely just subcontract the work out to a local body shop they work with and add their own markup to the bill. Take it to the body shop yourself and save the cost of their markup.

Wow- i saw the pictures and it almost looks like my bumper did when I was rear-ended at a stop light . I see that you are located in New York. I took my IS to Clarkstown International Collision in Rockland County. They are one of the very few shops in NY that use nitrogen in their painting process. They result was factory flawless and it only took 3 days. It would have been done sooner but they had to order the bumper in my case because it was cracked. They are Geico certified and have an Enterprise Rental Car rep right in their office. Good Luck!
