No more oxidized headlights!
hey guys just thought I'd wanna share what I did the other day. not sure if this is the right place to post this as I am on my phone and can't see much. But I had some free time the other day and thought why not sand my headlights! my headlights aren't that bad but sanding them definitely made made them more clearer. I'm not a wiz at this but since they weren't that bad I only wet sanded 1500-2000 and finished off with some mothers or megiuars not sure lol. took me about an hour for both

kickin8 is right, if you don't seal them, in just a few months you'll be in worse shape than before you touched them, since you effectively sanded off what was left of the factory UV sealant.

What is everyone using for sealant?
I just redo mine every so often because it's so easy with a DA buffer. I'd be willing to seal them if something would actually hold up in the blazing Texas heat, though.

I use Meguiar's headlight Protectant to help "seal" the fresh surface :

Just wondering if it's any different than my current routine of just hitting them with 303 Aerospace every time I wash the car?

Im usually at the car wash once a week and I apply a coat of wax in place of sealant. I like the longevity of sealant but certain waxes offer decent enough protection from uv rays. I havent had issues

I have used 2 different Krylon clearcoats, but they weren't that great. Then someone told me about this -
Rustoleum American Accents 2X Ultra cover
Gloss clear stock # 280702
It is more expensive than other stuff, approx $20 for a 12 oz spray can. It is also hard to find, you may have to order it on-line.

You can also use 3M or ClearShield PRO series paint protection films.
It last years and is probably the best protection.
Or you can be a cool kid and throw a tinted LaminX on them, which is an even thicker film.
