Default My 2012 IS350 not going over 20MPH, HELP!!

help! I have a 2012 IS 350 with 55K miles, my vehicle is NOT wanting to go over 20 mph.. the speedometer does not go up and neither do the revs. I plugged the code reader and gave a code P0087, "sensing low fuel pressure". had to get my car towed to the shop, when they plugged in there machine read the same code. The shop owner said they checked the pressure and everything is fine, they checked sensors and one of them that reads the engine temperature is coming back reading -45 degrees.. WTF... luckily it is under warranty (extended warranty) but the warranty company says I cannot get a rent a car vehicle until the car has been diagnosed then the claim can begin. The shop owner said they still need more time to diagnose my vehicle. I do trust this shop, the guy has great reviews on Yelp.com, I've been going here since I got my car 18 months ago for all maintenance.. this is getting to be very frustrating.. anyone ever have this type of issue on their IS??? This sucks man, I love my IS350, got it in that ultrasonic blue color but this is very frustrating..

Why not bring to Lexus dealer if still under warranty? Have not heard of this issue before.

I would second this, being that its under warranty, Lexus would be the best bet.

Were all recalls performed on the vehicle? I believe there was a fuel pressure thingie recall. Idk if that would correlate in anyway,

That's really strange. Yeah you should be able to get a courtesy loaner so as long they have 1 available for you. Your best bet is to call ahead and ask or if need be make a resevation. Most.of the time they have enough available but sometimes they run out. Also be sure to do a thorough walk around and document any damage you see and bring to their attention. Some dealerships are cool, some are jerks. I have a post coming up soon about a recent experience I had.

Thats fine, Warranty doesent mean that it cant be serviced at Lexus. If you go to Lexus With your warranty information, then they will contact your warranty department, and then bill them as necessary. At least thats what I did with my extended 3rd party Warranty.

Your car has a 6yr/70k power train warranty which covers the fuel pump(s), take it to the dealer... Also the car has 2 fuel pumps and 2 separate fuel systems, one for the direct injection and one for the port injection. The place where you have the car may not have checked the pressure on both systems...

The aftermarket warranty company will pay for the fix no matter where you take it. Take it to the dealership so they can diagnose it more quickly/correctly AND you might be able to convince them to lend you a free loaner.

Good luck!

UPDATE: took my lexus to the Lexus of Riverside dealership last Friday, they seem pretty cool, they gave me a free loaner vehicle (2016 IS 250) for the weekend. They called me the following day to tell me there code scanner is also reading back low fuel pressure so they will replace the fuel pump. Luckily, he did say its covered under my extended warranty (even thou I will now ask regarding that 6yr/70k power train warranty), its gonna be about a $1300 job, oh! and my battery is low (which I kinda already knew anyway) when they checked, they said it would be $250 if I wanted them to replace the battery, I know its crazy high, in most cases I would of said "nah" and bought one somewhere else, but I guess I just want/hopping for my vehicle to be back to 100% when I pick it up from the dealership on Tuesday so just told the service advisor "just do it".. ill keep you guys posted as to how the car is driving when I get it back Tuesday, thanks all you guys for your help thou! much appreciated dude!

Ouch for $200 you could have probably gotten a really nice battery. I googled Riverside Lexus for you and found a coupon for $15 off!

On a side note, I'm really glad your ordeal is almost over!

Good idea to get battery or some other service from dealer. From my experience they hate it when you decline on everything.
