Default Stock HID/Xenon switch to Halogen Aftermarket

Hi,

I'm not well versed in cars, so I was curious to hear some thoughts on my dilemma.

I purchased my '07 IS250 a few months ago, and I would like to replace the stock HID/Xenon headlight assembly with an aftermarket assembly with LEDs. The problem is that most websites are saying that if I have stock HID/Xenon headlights, I cannot install the aftermarket headlights (which are halogen). Why is that?

Is there any way to get around not being able to install the aftermarket headlight assemblies? I've read on some places online that AFS is a part of the reason why they are not compatible, but I really dont care about AFS. If the headlights will work/light up, but AFS will not work then I am willing to proceed. Here are the aftermarket headlight assemblies that I would like to install: http://www.carid.com/2007-lexus-is-h...-38833697.html

Thanks for your help in advance.

Car is wired for HIDs, not halogens. Connectors and wiring are different compared to a halogen equipped model. You would need to do quite a bit of electrical work that just isn't worth it. At the very least you'd need the h11 plugs and splice into the wiring, which may not just "work" so to say as it depends on what sort of voltage is going through the lows.

While the LEDs look nice, they're most likely some of the cheapest LEDs there is and will probably burn out after a few months of use. The junk halogen protectors in just about every aftermarket headlight are junk in general, they leave a lot to be desired if you want to see anything at night even compared to a IS equipped with stock halogens. If you do any sort of night driving, stick with what you got. I'd save up money and get a pair of 11+ headlights, it's pretty much plug and play, headlight output won't suck, and you can rely on the LEDs to not burn out after a few months.
