They broke the dash around the center console above the center vents, theres 4 spots where chunks of rubber are crumbled off. He told me they had no other choice but to remove the dash, which im reading here some people say they didnt have too. Now i have to wait 6+ months with a ugly dash.

Did the actually break (like cracks) the dash or just some rubberish cover on the dash peeled off? I know when I first bought the car I accidentally peeled off a small piece in the corner trying to clean it.

If they actually broke (not just cosmetic) it than they should replace it with a new dash ASAP not make you wait 6+ months. I would complain like hell and tell them either replace it now or provide a replacement rental car (hopefully a nice new model) until they do!

Agreed, they damaged your car while making a repair. They need to do the right thing. Thousands of airbags all over the country are being replaced on this car without this damage being incurred. If you any trouble w/ their service manager, call Lexus directly.

BTW, I was told by my dealer that 100% of the time they remove the dash for this repair.

This makes sense but dealer may not have much choice regarding 6+ months wait. Many of us (including me) have been waiting for the "sticky dash issue" replacement and there's a very long waiting list with some owners been waiting for 2+ years.

Finally got the airbag issue fixed after 7 months of loaner cars out here in San Diego. Feels good to be driving my car again!

They didn't necessarily break the dash, its more cosmetic, the rubber on the dash is crumbled off all around the center console and ive been hearing strange noises driving now

I mean yeah it's not that bad but still I expect to bring my car to the dealership and have it leave in the same condition I brought it in.

Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to remove the cracking/melting dashes without damaging them in some way. Before I had mine replaced, just the slightest bump on the very edge of the dash on the drivers peeled it off a bit. You can be extremely careful and you'll still damage these dashes when they're like that. As long as you're on the list for a new dash/door panels, then don't worry about it. Now if this was a brand new dash, I'd be a bit angry.

I would have been pissed... My car is currently being service for the dash and air bag recalled.
They gave me a new IS200 as a loaner.... Trust me the new car isn't much better. I dare say a new Honda Accord V6 has a better interior.

Got this in the mail today. So it looks like they are ready to start replacing airbags. Have a 2006 IS350 in DFW.

Got my notice for this in the mail today... Hoping to make an appointment for the sticky dash issue and do the airbags when all the parts are available.
