So I got off the phone with my local dealership and they are not acknowledging this recall.
They said "Dont believe everything you read on the internet. If a recall is taking place, a letter will be sent out to your address."
How am I to go about resolving this with Lexus Canada? I do not feel safe driving around in a car that an airbag can deploy anytime and kill me.

Let's not jump to conclusions here.
First off, it's the passenger side airbag, so I'm assuming the driver's side is OK.
Second, AFAIK, vehicles in hot humid climates are much more affected than those in cooler dryer climates. So the poster from Texas has more of a chance of something happening than the poster from Canada.
Third, if your that worried - I'm not! Either have the passenger side airbag disconnected or have passengers only sit in the back seat.
In any case, I really don't think we should panic here.

Hmm, I imagine they need to take off the dash to get to the passenger airbag? Guess it might be a good idea to wait to have it done whenever my dash comes in.

Why the hell did it take them three years to finally figure out ours were affected too?! I am pissed. At the rate this recall is going, just about EVERY car that has ANY Takata airbag in it will be recalled. They should just recall every car already and be done with it. In the meantime, we've driven around for three years with a bad airbag. What kind of regulation is that? Why did it take all these years to include ours? I bad airbag is a bad airbag! Sorry, this is not acceptable.

I'm curious about the 2012 and 2013 MY. Did they receive different passenger airbag inflators and therefore not affected? If not, why extend the recall to the 2011 MY and leave out the 2012 and 2013 MY?

My guess, and it's only a guess, so I hope I'm wrong, is that the same airbags with the same propellant are used even in 2012+ models... The Ammonium nitrate, the propellant used in the airbag, is the problem. It degrades over time, especially when subjected to high heat and humidity... I would bet that they are focusing on the models that are more than 5 yrs old first, and the newer models will be added to the recall at a later date... Apparently, Takata was less than forth coming and even tried to suppress information regarding the defects so this has delayed the recall process, there are a lot of good articles out there about this... Again, hopefully I'm wrong, and please correct me if anyone has other info.
